The F1 Thread

Who do you follow ResidentMackem?

Damn, was hoping to have another Ferrari fan on here....

The new F1 channel seems to have stuff on there. Currently showing some Williams factory time lapse.

Just had a proper look and it's just a Legends episode as a trail.

First proper program is next Friday at 8pm. A 2 hour season preview!!

Dreadful. Like someone has died. Very disappointed.

They were using Dire Straits Money For Nothing on Sky Sports News for the F1 apparently, that would of been amazing intro music.

That song isn't 'meh' its just straight up wank.

They've used it because of this I'd assume, where is does work well I'll admit. Not on the sky intro though.

Ahh...just a few days away now :) I don't think anyone knows what to expect, but I think we'll have a tight battle on our hands this year. Ferrari look in trouble, but Mercedes and Lotus look like they might be right up there. The Lotus is suited to Melbourne too.

Just noticed that BBC will be counting down the top twenty F1 drivers since 1950 over the season on their website. Not quite as good as actually having live coverage of every grand prix (yes I am still bloody angry and bitter about that) but still should be an interesting read.

Number 20 has just been revealed as Jochen Rindt.

I suppose I should list a top twenty as I see them

1. Jim Clarke
2. Ayrton Senna
3. Juan Manuel Fangio
4. Michael Schumacher
5. Gilles Villeneuve
6. Sebastian Vettel
7. Alain Prost
8. Fernando Alonso
9. Jackie Stewart
10. Jochen Rindt
11. Mika Hakkonen
12. Jack Brabham
13. John Surtees
14. Stirling Moss
15. Nikki Lauda
16. Graham Hill
17. Kimi Raikonen
18. Nigel Mansell
19. James Hunt
20. Nelson Piquet

No Stirling Moss?!!

Also Jack Brabham, James Hunt and Emerson Fittipaldi.

Stirling will feature I'm sure. Once I have my twenty I would need to mess about with it to get a final line up.

Yes to Jack Brabham. Not sure about Hunt - only one championship and Lauda probably would have won that year without his accident. For one championship I was thinking possibly Jody Schechter. Fittipaldi is an interesting one.

There is space for him. Just trying to figure out if there are any other earlier drivers to drop in. Getting to twenty is proving the challenge rather than weeding out unworthy candidates. Apparently, the beeb have four current drivers in the list

Schumi and Alonso are a given, but who will be the others? Raikkonen? Button? Hamilton?
