Is it? They've lodged a petition under 48.8, but to me 48.8 a) backs the FIA position.

Would we rather have a race finish under the SC, or get racing again, irrespective of the order or who it is? Would those here protesting think the same if the roles were reversed?

Safety I understand but to just say you know that huge lead you’ve built we’ll just take that off you, for something out of your control. Earlier in the race ok but with86% of the race done it’s utter lunacy.
There’s no way on earth F1 can maintain such a farcical way of deciding things.
Either call the race as it was or bring the race to a stop and allow the cars to restart with the relevant time gap.

Verstappen was on Softs when the VSC happened.

Merc pit Hamilton and Verstappen would have been forced to do the same, or stay out and have to change tyres at some point any way.

Bang on. They all go, or none of them do. Is that a shite way to end the season? Absolutely. But ultimately that is out of everyone's hands.

Thats what I found odd they only allowed the cars between Verstappen and Hamilton to overtake. Again manufactured to make it interesting.

That’s all I needed to know, how in any sport you can punish someone who is miles ahead for something not their fault is beyond me it’s a false result. Whole point of sporting competition is to work out who is the best that’s not happened today.

You can't remove the rest of the field to allow two people to have an unimpeded race either, shit happens. No different to a game of football where a star player pulls up with a hamstring and the other team comes back from behind to win.

You can't just award Hamilton the win because he was in front when something went wrong.

To some extent they were fucked either way today, the race director that is, if they hadn't allowed any racing at all at the end or left backmarkers in the way then it looks like they're shafting Red Bull but at the same time doing what they did looks like they've put Max's name on the trophy for him.

As I've said so many times, and called particularly before this race, some petty incident will ultimately decide it. The sooner we can get cars that can legitimately race and overtake one another the better, be nice to have a race series where the racing is the prominent feature once more.

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if the FIA shit the bed and give Max 5s for that one inch 'overtake' before the end of the safety car period.

I will feel for Max if this gets taken away, absolutely not his fault.

They’ve made their bed. Can’t see how they can change it.

I don’t like Max and I’m gutted Lewis has lost through no fault of his own or the teams. But changing the decision now wouldn’t feel right. I mean it doesn’t feel right already but switching it seems worse! Basically don’t put yourself in this position in the first place.
