Exactly. And the penalty wasn't even deserved, most commentators have said so if I recall correctly too.

Not exactly the same but wasn't there a time when it was common for teams to change multiple parts, all of which incurred individual penalties, at the same time so they could stack up some ridiculous 30-40 or more place grid penalties in one race rather than changing the parts as and when they actually needed to picking up 10 grid penalties across multiple races.

Similar things have happened in football with people picking up nonsense bookings to hit the threshold for a ban on games where they weren't going to play anyway.
