The F1 Thread

Ricciardo now taking a 20 place penalty to have better engines for the last races. This penalty thing is the worst idea F1 have ever had, and the penalty for Ricciardo also basically means Lewis just has to keep running to win the title. Absolutely bollocks, much as I want Lewis to triumph.

Sounded like a relatively fun race in the end thanks to the first corner incident. They need to do something about the engine thing although the Mercedes engines don’t seem to have anything like the same problems as the Renault and Honda.

I need to go back over the rule changes for 2018, but next year is really lining up to be mega although I still expect Lewis to win it over the course of a year as his competitors take more points off each other, but the races should be very competitive. Take this year, add in a very competitive Red Bull, a half decent McLaren (or maybe it's even more competitive, the chassis certainly looks good at current...), Kubica(?), and a very impressive Ocon (who isn't talked about enough).

Max Verstappen is certainly showing his class now too.

The engine (penalty) situation needs sorting quickly though - believe next year they are down to 3 over the year as well...

Few moments but on the whole bit dull really.

The stuff at corners 2 & 3 were good with Max taking Seb and Lewis making a move on Seb and Max but a puncture and some damage to the car ruined his race but luckily for him Seb hitting Max and then the Merc ended his chances. Whenever he got behind a car Merc were calling him of as his engine temp was sky high. Max will never get a race as easy as that one. Turns out Merc didn't run their engines on max for any of the race as they were worried about them going pop (like a lot of Renault engines did). Lewis and Alonso was good fun at the end, nice little battle between them.

I see Ferrari are doing their annual "Don't make changes we don't like or we fuck off" threat

Massa retires....again.

Just in time for some emotional scenes at Brazil, again. So Kubica or a promtion for Di Resta. I know they can't have anyone under 25 due to needing 1 driver than can advertise on behalf of their sponsors

Would love to see Kubica have another crack.

You know exactly what bland, bang average results you're going to get with PDR.

Alonso will race at Le Mans for Toyota next year.

Well, Lewis has decided Quali is pointless as he puts his car in the wall in Q1 on his first lap. Back of the grid for him tomorrow

Odd incident as well. Full pelt on the long corner and the backend just decided to go its own way

something like 4g of cornering force, the rear tyres couldn't hold on with the speed he turned in at

Great job by Bottas in the end, exciting end to quali. Superb from Alonso as well.

Lewis will be starting from the Pit Lane by the looks of it

Have you noticed how many F1 drivers have names linked to Scottish towns?

Stirling Moss...
Lewis Hamilton...
Eddie Irvine...
Ayr Town centre
