The F1 Thread

Gubbed by Ricciardo far too easily to be in the class of those two for me.

No doubting he's an extremely good driver though.

aye Ricciardo is a good shout too, great driver

Well practice went well today

P1 - Hardly any action at all
P2 - Never happened due to visibility.

Tomorrow set to be better for P3 and Quali but Sunday is set to be like today.

On the plus side....no issues for McLaren.

Not a lot between the Ferraris and Mercs again but a brilliant lap from Lewis in Q3 means the front 3 is the same as in Oz

Hamilton - Vettel - Bottas

Really good race today, Lewis didn't look under much trouble, but raced really well. Interesting to see Seb can actually do decent overtakes too

Great race and some good 'natural' overtaking. Vettel unlucky with the safety car timing otherwise it would have been very close at the front. Ferrari stupid not to pit kimi earlier, probably cost them 3rd. Looking like a very good fight this season between Ferrari and Mercedes

good race and Hamilton, Vettel in a race of their own

Alonso to race in the Indy 500 and miss Monaco.

I know that McLaren are having a difficult time, but I still find it strange that they have released him for the Indy. Wouldn't he be under contract at McLaren?

He's racing for Mclaren in it.

They want to keep him happy so they have a shot at keeping him next year.

That explains it, thank you Nando. I wonder when McLaren will become competitive again in F1?

Power unit on Alonso's car goes pop ahead of Q2.

Glorious again from Mclaren.

First ever Pole for Bottas.

0.023 ahead of Lewis. Nearly half a second quicker than Vettel in 3rd.

That's was mighty close, shame that they seem to have taken a step away from Ferrari though

Well done Bottas! Always good to see someone new at P1.

Well Lewis will be a bit fucked off with himself. His stupid decision to slow Danny Ric down into the pits when the Mercs were double stacking under the safety car cost him a 5 second penalty. Without that 5 seconds the last 5 laps would have had him all over Vettel and with better tyres.

Bonus for Mclaren, Alonso almost did a full race before his engine failed.

quite an enjoyable race that. some decent scrapping in the alonso palmer kvyat battle as well. shame for alonso as he put in another great drive in an absolute lemon.
