The F1 Thread

I've never seen somebody overtake at St Devote. It would have been better leading down to Mirabeu, if not for the massive bump on the racing line.

Didnt Senna once take Prost there, or is my memory playing tricks with me.

Senna did his amazing move after casino square going to the right hander before the drop down the hill to Mirabeau. One of the greatest moves ever.

Some delightful driving in practice today, Lewis and Fernando are incredible to watch around here.

Add Felipe to that list, very ballsy driving.

It's only fairly recently that it's become more difficult. It always used to be the overtaking point of choice when the old chicane was there, if Monaco could be said to have such a thing.

I've no idea if it's on YouTube or not, but you might want to look at Derek Daly's overtaking attempt into St Devote on Lap 1 in 1980...

Rosberg's managed to put his car into the wall on the exit from the tunnel in FP3. Just under three hours to qualifying...

Watching it again, he's a lucky boy. Very nearly went smashing straight into the central divider. They might have a job repairing that for qualifying.

Liuzzi's had a smash too. I doubt he's going to make it.

Just me watching today?

DC just did a lap in the RBR simulator. The amount of stuff they have to fiddle around with these days as well as keeping the thing on the track is insane.

Luizzi won't be taking part in qualifying, not that it matters much.

I really want to see someone actually hit the water in Monaco

If Nico had actually hit the central divider then you might well have seen it. The onboard of that was terrifying!

Jeez, massive accident for Perez. Hope the kid is alright.

Perez does a Rosberg but he hits the barrier. Q3 stopped and Perez not out of the car yet, does not look good at all.

Horrible impact, you don't want to go in side-on. Fingers crossed for him.

Perez is ok, thankfully.

That crash 10 years ago, I'd have been very fearful for him.

P7 for Lewis.

Won't be a happy bunny. First lap - blocked off by Massa (nothing will be done about that). Second lap - red flag for the Perez accident. Third lap - cold tyres, half an hour sat in the pit lane, no chance.

Concussion and a bruised thigh for Perez.

Hispania allowed to race despite not attempting qualifying, which seems silly to me.

Hamilton demoted to ninth for cutting a corner on his "hot" lap.

Monaco seems pretty pointless as a GP venue to me, they're very likely to finish as they line up on the grid. O.K., the fastest driver with the most reliable car is going to win, but the only skill involved is avoiding crashes.
