The F1 Thread

Lewis seems very very quick.

Stupidly quick at times. If it makes sense, probably a little bit to quick on certain parts of this track. Seems bits are like doing Monaco at full throttle. Nico has just stopped on track, seems he is stuck in 4th gear and is probably out of P2

The 2 corners on this track where this a run off area are going to make it interesting. Make a mistake on race day in that area and they will lose at least 30 seconds trying to get back in the race. I guess that is better than every other corner where if you get it wrong, its race over.

I think it just shows how good a natural driver Lewis is - from what sky were saying he didn't walk the track like other drivers, just got in and drove. He's been comfortably faster than all other drivers in both sessions and with any tyre or strategy. Doesn't particularly bode well for an exciting race though.

I suppose we are more or less guaranteed a safety car in the race so that should diminish the possibility of Lewis being miles out in front on his own.

Apparently he rarely does the walk of the track.

The race will be stop /start and a couple of red flags I reckon. No one will settle into a lead and hold it fully. Too many places where cars will crash that will mean the safety car won't be enough.

Well he had an absolute mare of a qualifying session there and will now be starting on his lovely flat spotted tyres.

Hamiltons tyres deemed not safe to race. He will now be allocated a set that has done the same number of laps as the set he borked up. Won't be any of his used super softs though as he has wrecked them all. So he gets a mystery set from another car instead.

Will he just be given a set of tyres, or will he and his team be given a choice between different sets of tyres? And where will these tyres come from? It all seems rather strange to me.

Lucky boy. If you ruin all your tyres you should be pitting after the first lap to change them.

He will be given a set. The tyres will be from the what were given back to Pirelli by other teams. So from that, 1 set will be chosen based on laps done and Lewis has to accept them.

I guess if his tyres were deemed unsafe there would be an issue of not even making a lap to pit. Better they do this than risk a tyre blow out and massive accident. Probably being over cautious on this track.

Actually I was a bit wrong. He is only changing 1 tyre not the whole set. The 4 tyres were inspected and as per F1 regulations after 1 was found to be unfit to race it has to be changed.

It's a strange sport, the enjoyment will be provided by watching the race for the minor placements and given where Hamilton finds himself it could be fun.

I think overtaking could be rather difficult this afternoon. Team strategies will be vital.

Well expected safety car after safety car...........so not single one was needed!

Nico perfect drive
Hamilton pushing but his engine lost its setting and it took 12 laps to get it back as the team aren't allowed to tell him over the Radio what he needs to do (only nearly 300 settings to choose from!!)
Quality race from Perez to nab 3rd

Race died on its arse after twenty laps I thought. Definitely like the circuit though.

A bit of drama (which was had in every session before the race) and it would be cracker.

Someone will eventually stick it in the wall up near the castle during a race. Some really tasty corners and opportunities for three wide racing elsewhere in the lap. I think I really like it.
