The F1 Thread

Not really. There was a lot of overtaking at Sepang and loads of pitstops as well.

I heard that they were alternating between KERS and no KERS runs. Prior to the weekend they said they might not run KERS due to it's reliability at Sepang.

The Renault engines are topping the speed traps too.

Ah ok so basically they haven't decided yet. They isually decide after the Friday practices so I'm sure we'll hear for sure tomorrow.

Vettel’s fastest time was set on the third lap of the run, while Hamilton’s and Button’s were on the first.

Vettel’s pace on long runs was strong and consistent. He did a 19 lap run at the start of the afternoon session on the hard tyre with laps mainly in the low 1m44s, working down to high 1m 43s. Team mate Mark Webber, who focussed on race preparation, didn’t do a new tyre performance run. Their combined work indicates that the Red Bull is looking after its tyres well. Webber did a 13 lap run on the soft tyre with times in the low 1m 43s, which no other team was able to match. Massa’s equivalent run in the Ferrari was in the high 1m43 and low 1m44s.

Ominous for the GP. If they stay ahead on the first lap and are reliable, they win.

Pretty much what we've seen in the last couple of races. Can't see past another Vettel win.

Brundle and Coulthard shit stirring that Alonso went to the stewards to complain about Hamilton, neither Ferrari or McLaren complained to the stewards about either incident. Hamilton was penalised as a deterrent to other drivers.

I think that is a bit of a slur against Alonso by those two. I'm all for a bit of jingoism in commentary within boundaries, but alonso isn't the great satan.

Also rumours that Alonso hit Hamilton as he's used up all of his KERS, it would help explain why Alonso closed so quickly on him.

Vettell bags pole again with Button and Hamilton behind him.

Webber had electrical problems and is down in 18th

Vettel is miles ahead of everyone else here. McLaren must hope they can get someone ahead into the first corner and compromise the red bull or it is going to be a procession.

Stupidly quick, however I'm convinced there's something dodgy with his car. Why did he stay in his car so long? Horner's reasoning seems odd seeing as Button followed him in and got straight out of the car.

They hardly ever repeat their quali dominance by running away with each race, but I certainly think he'll win. He'd join an elite group of drivers who have won 5 on the bounce if he does.

Red Bull is in a class of it's own. He's obviously a fabulous driver but until he fights his way through against the top dogs I'll still rate Hamilton and Alonso as the best in the business.

Button chucks his lead away after going into the wrong pit!!

Hamilton down to 5th now

Button stopped in wrong pit garage. What an idiot, and Hamilton dropped to fourth. Vettel must be laughing at this.

In all the fun and games between Button, Vettall, Massa & Button everyone missed that Rosberg was in the lead. Great race

It is a good race, Schuey and Alonso having a battle.

Rosberg being hauled in by Vettel, Button has chucked it away, how the &$@% can you stop in wrong garage...
