The Darts Thread

Raducanu is a pretty good player tbf, just been borked with injuries. Only 21 too so plenty of time left.

For one hit wonders you want someone like Ben Curtis in golf.

He must be a one hit wonder, don't think I've heard of him

Won The Open in 2003 out of absolutely nowhere. Then pretty much never did anything after.

Ah ok. So long ago I maybe knew of him at the time and promptly forgot him

Golf always has the opportunity to throw the shock result up, particularly in The Open where there could be some conditions the Americans aren’t traditionally used to and acts as bit of a leveller. They are all pretty good at golf to be there in the first place, so you put in a worldy few rounds and everyone else if off it and you’re in.

Women’s tennis similar as there’s not a massive discrepancy in talent like there is with the men’s so like any KO competition get a bit of luck and you’re in with a shot.

Not many variables in darts and he already has elite ability. As long as you keep practising there’s no reason you won’t be in around the latter stages of events

Kirk Shepherd is your only real darts potential parallel. But that was a weird Worlds where everything just fell in his lap and he never even averaged 90 in a single match all tournament. Littler is clearly miles better than that.

Just don’t become an arrogant dick like Adrian Lewis who had tons of ability but just seems to have given up and I assume just treats darts like a jolly and makes a solid wedge just turning up.

Tbf Lewis was excellent for close on 10 years. Lost it now though and won't even be on tour in 2025 unless he has a big turnaround.

Littler won the first Players Championship of the year today. Got a 9 darter along the way and also missed D12 for another one.

ION Gerwyn Price walked off while losing vs Dolan because it was "too cold" :D Such a knob.

Too cold??!

Oh for the days of the 70s and 80s when Darts players were fag smoking, beer swilling, jewellery festooned men's men!

Had it on in the background whilst working. A good afternoon of darts. Alan Soutar gave Littler a scare in the semi.

Jinkys mate beat Littler today in the Euro Qualifiers,

The World Seniors Darts Championship is live on BBC iPlayer if anyone is interested.

Tony Green has died. Not been well for a while sadly.

Luke Littler good be at the top for years providing he can keep a very young head on its shoulders.

Luke Humphries playing some ridiculous stuff at the World Grand Prix. As good as it gets.

I know it shouldn't matter, but the bookies having Humphries and Littler as joint-favs (or even Littler outright) is pretty disrespectful to Humphries. Over the last 12 months in TV ranking majors this is his record (Littler in brackets)

Grand Prix - Win
Euro Champ - QF
Grand Slam - Win
Players Champ - Win
Worlds - Win (LL - RU)
UK Open - RU (LL - QF)
Matchplay - Win (LL - 1R)
Grand Prix - In Final (LL - 1R)

Prime Taylor/MVG stuff

It just means as many people are betting on Littler as they are on Humphries, there's no disrespect from the bookies, they're just covering themselves.

Still at Aldersley rather than the Civic, which is just plain weird.

For the second weekend in the row I’ve turned down something that would probably be more enjoyable and will be at Molineux again instead.
