The Cricket Thread

Naturally. They just run cricket nowadays. They are the biggest curse on the game, which is why I was glad the Aussies beat them in the 50 over final

You’d like to think everyone would get sick of India’s antics and just refuse to play them. Won’t happened due to the financial loss, the way all tournaments are manoeuvred to suit them. ICC pitches at world cups basically being BCCI pitches, worst kept secret that India call all the shots.
Reality is from an England, SA and NZ view point Australia is the big one not India.

The Ashes will always be a bigger event than a series against India, but if they play each other in a tournament final I'd rather the Aussies won. Aussies are brash, arrogant and annoying, but India are bullies, using their financial muscle to get their own way and have zero interest in the good of the wider game. ICC haven't stood up to them for years and now it looks like the ECB won't either.

Tend to agree goes against every natural fibre in body wanting Australia to win a game but for the good of the sport India not winning is a good thing.
Reality is India doesn’t care less about what the rest of cricket thinks of them.

I hadn't realised that the BCCI refuse to allow current Indian internationals to play in any franchise cricket except the IPL. And they are now influencing through investment to try and prevent Pakistan cricketers getting a game. And what if one of the non-Indian owned hundred teams picks a young indian cricketer and he does well, and that franchise looks like maybe beating a BCCI preferred side? They pick him for the India team to carry the drinks and he is automatically a player that the competing franchise can no longer pick.

Everyone knows I hate the Hundred. Well, I also hate franchise cricket, and here is why. It has allowed the BCCI to get its filthy corrupt claws into the English summer. The Indian investors should have been fucked off over this anti-Pakistan discrimination.

They simply do not care what their image looks like world wide as the simple fact is they have the biggest home audience by a mile and they’ll stay happy if India are winning and the IPL continues as it does. Whilst that continues nothing will change.
As we know ICC tournaments should have pitches prepared independently but never are when hosted in India.
The manipulation of the super 8 so that India get to play where they want again is just giving them the extra few % they need to win.
It’s as close to cheating if not crossing the line of cheating as you can get.
If England didn’t play India again for a long time I wouldn’t lose any sleep. Bit like if wolves didn’t play Man City again I wouldn’t cry about it.

Buttler looked terrible in his very short innings

What on earth were Sri Lanka doing? Well bowled though

India lose to SA badly, pls pls go out before the SF in your own back yard it would be hilarious

I don't see us dropping him mid tournament, but if it doesn't change this feels like the end for Buttler

Think this is the end for Buttler, 36 later this year, hasn't even made it to 40 in his last 13 T20I innings, loads of alternatives to open and keep. White ball legend but no-one goes on forever.

Odd tournament, we haven't convinced in any game at all but we've always had one or two players to really step up and stand out. I'd be tempted to swap Duckett in for either opener against NZ.
