The Cricket Thread

Of those on the periphery:

Robinson: Attitude, attitude, attitude
Cook: Superb figures and I like watching him bowl...but as I say I would worry about him being a bit Woakes away from home
Tongue: Not played since August 2023 and no recent news on his recovery
Stone/Mahmood/Archer: Can't stay fit
Potts/Carse: Averaging 62 and 286 (!) respectively with the ball for Durham this season
Atkinson: Maybe, although he doesn't have a huge body of work to pick from
Fisher: Looked nowhere near good enough in his one cap to date
Overtons: Hunchback rubbish
Currans: Popgun rubbish

Stokes playing today for Durham and has bowled 6 overs this morning.

Leach is also back in the Somerset team.

I might have to put Ed Barnard back on England Watch at this rate.

Some recovery from this morning. As in most fixtures of late I’ve had to google to find out who 2 of the bowlers are!

Craig Miles put in his best performance picking up a 5 for and did his ankle celebrating the 5th wicket 🙄. The overseas player curse continues, ones gone to play for Pakistan in Ireland despite being told they wouldn't call him up, the other rocked up injured which it took two sub par performances for them to discover

Here's hoping Crawley is one where domestic form doesn't matter (in fairness he has been very good for England for a while now)

15/2. Glorious weather today so overheads not to blame, could just be crap batting.

Made 238 today, panic over

Essex 224/4, probably slight favourites though there isn't too much batting to come if both Cox and Critchley go. If you get bowled out for 94 then you get what you deserve (I suppose Hain didn't bat, but that's not much of an excuse)

Whichever one of Davies or Robinson decided against not enforcing the follow on needs shooting. Only spent about a session and half in the field

Horrible start to the season for Hain when he's looking to push his case for England. Misses games for personal reasons (not judging at all there, but far from ideal, especially when everyone is racking up cheap runs), gets an all-time shocker vs Surrey, concussion in this game so presumably won't play next week vs Lancs.

Lost by four wickets, that's a serious black mark.

The non-knobhead Ollie Robinson closing in on a century for Durham, he's certainly doing all he can to put himself in the mix if we are moving on from Foakes and Bairstow (I say we should, one isn't quite good enough with the bat and one is yesterday's man).
