The Cricket Thread

The latest IPL deal puts it up in the PL and NFL stratosphere. I predict England won't be playing Tests in May in a couple of years or going to the Windies in April

I get that I'm getting on a bit but I really don't understand the popularity. The standard is not very good at all.

The BBL is better and our Blast at least has heritage and identity (ironically enough, apart from the team many of us on here follow).

Homegrown tournament in a country with pretty much no other sporting successes or tournaments. Massive ex-pat population around the world too.

Both Overton brothers in the squad for the next test. Parkinson left out.

Conway latest Kiwi to test positive. Can join training on Tuesday if he gets a negative before then but must be a significant doubt.

Jamie Overton has been good this season tbf, supposedly put on a bit of pace and his record has been good. Sounds like we might rest 1 or 2 of the bowlers at least

You could rest Jimmy ahead of the India game which follows straight after, then there isn't another Test until mid-August.

Jamie Overton has developed into a decent batsman too. I'd rather never see his brother again, just doesn't have the quality and we've seen enough by now.

Jamie Overton follows the England true pace bowler type of always been broken. If he's fit and we can protect him, then he has the variety we could really use and should

I've got tickets for Day 3 & 4 at Headingley but not sure the excitement will be quite as good as it was on Tuesday at Trent Bridge!

Been fit all season I think, so cue an injury during his debut (if he plays)

Phil Salt gets 100 off 82 against Netherlands

Eng 184-1 after being put in

200 partnership up off 27 overs

203-1
Salt 105 n.o.
Malan 84 n.o.

So we just send Joss Butler in early to "speed up the scoring" 🤣 It really isn't fair

Buttler dropped on 37 as he takes 21 off that over

51 partnership off 32 balls

100 for Malan off 90 balls

That's a century in Tests, ODI and T20 and only the second English batter to do that after Joss Butler
