The Cricket Thread

I’m pissed of with that morning session but you certainly can’t write this team off or out of the game at this point

That'll do from Woody. 24 quick runs. See if Broad can do the same then the deficit is manageable.

The only concern Id have with this is that it seems to be brightening up to really batter friendly conditions. Although it seems the ball has been doing a bit for both sides so far.

If you knew Root and Bairstow would get basically nothing this morning, would you have accepted a deficit of 60 or so?

Is it ever a case that a six gets whacked into the stands and the ball doesnt get thrown back?

Meaning the bowling team then get a new ball and a potential advantage?

They have a big box of old balls from when other games have ended and they group them by how many overs they were used.
They then try and pick one that looks the same interms of wear. The umpires and bowlers have a goid ol chat about it.

Never knew that the umpires keep balls of different ages, interesting. Thanks
Watch a test where team bats for longer than England and you will see the bowling team moaning the ball is out of shape when they are not getting wickets. If the umpire agrees a box of balls of a similar age will be given to pick its replacement from

My Irish Mrs asked me the very same.
When I told her, 'no that wouldn't happen '
She said 'Not like in Ireland then, when someone would hide it under their seat'. 😄

Well that was a fun 10 and a bit overs after lunch. Somewhat salvaged some of the disaster of the first session

The ball doesn't seem to be doing that much once it gets past 25-30 overs or so (although Cummins did a bit with the odd ball). Vital we get off to a good start and get one or two out early

I thought some of them were from nets sessions which is why some of the balls that are of the same 'age' are often a lot better for bowlers. Hence why teams are constantly trying to get them changed after the shine has come off

Aus struck gold in the 2019 series, think it was at Old Trafford. Ball was doing absolutely nothing and they managed to wangle a change after about 55-60 overs. Got one out of the box, hooped everywhere and cleaned us up from about five down.

Stop bowling this short tripe, games moving away from us here Australia making batting look very straight forward.
