The Cricket Thread

Think it's clear we are absolutely no match for these, they are better than us in every area. Some of it is self inflicted, by selectors (no proper WK and a retired spinner) and some is our own rank stupidity but even without those things going wrong I doubt we'd be able to win a series against them.
They are not better than us in every area at all.

We have played particularly poorly in some areas, notably fielding. It is mainly down to decision making on our part.

Margins of 2 wickets and 43 runs indicate that there isn't a huge gap and both games could easily have gone England's way.

I'd say they're a better team in as much as Villa are currently a slightly better team than Wolves. But Wolves beat Villa a few weeks ago and it wasn't a robbery by any stretch.

They’re better than us but it’s little margins, their bowling attack is more consistent and they’re more clinical in the field.
Facts are simple had we taken two of the chances in the first innings at Edgbaston we would’ve won comfortably. Had JB not gone gardening at lords we would’ve got very close to winning.

Better bowling attack, better fielding and so far they've batted better aswell. Which area are they not?

It needs to be borne in mind that we've had the best of the conditions generally speaking as well.

In the main I would say yes, but Aus did have the only 20 minutes where the ball did anything at all at Edgbaston, we lost two wickets when I would suggest objectively that we shouldn't have been out there, it was too dark and it was raining reasonably heavily.

That's awful. But entirely predictable from someone who hasn't been able to play a long innings for years.

Their bowling is better as is their fielding not by much but enough to win the series and with room to spare. It could very well be a 5-0 but all the games are close.

It's literally 1pm. Leave it alone for crying out loud.

What an awful session on what looks like a good day for batting. That session was the end of the Ashes I think.

Yep. Don't know how much more of this crap I can watch.
Think I'll take the dog for a walk to calm down.

On a skill set level there’s not to much difference between the sides on a decision making level Australia are miles ahead.
Series is gone now just a case of doing a 90’s special and winning a dead rubber and claiming it to be not so bad.

Didn't take the dog. Watched the feature of the game that Stokes won for us from 4 year ago. I was so lucky to be there that day.
Having seen that, there is still some hope for another Headingley miracle. Maybe.
