The Car Thread

The seats are shit and uncomfortable on long journeys if that helps.

Whatever you do, don't dink down the left stalk 3 times. Do not do this.

Reading this thread irregardless of Politics or whatever. The Tesla Model 3 is absolute fantastic car & one of the best car changes I've ever made. It's smooth, comfy & the tech is amazing. Since July of 2025 I've saved over £900 by home charging.

Genuinely the best Daily driver I've ever had

Don't know about the UK but at service stations over here there'll be 2 charging points for a standard EV on each is a standard plug in and also on the other side a High Speed charger. Just across from these charging points are 10 Tesla chargers.
A while ago the government ordered them to make them available to non Tesla vehicles, so they opened some up.
Less than 50% of them only though.
Cunts.
So frequently you'll go to charge up for a fast charge and both are in use and 10 empty Tesla chargers sitting empty and unusable.
Just cunts.

Teslas have got Grok now too haven’t they? You’ll be able to undress women automagically as you drive along.

It was added on the update I had to do on the Y. Not a clue what it does as not used it nor looked it up

"Open the garage door, Grok"

"I'm afraid I can let you do that, Kenny"

It appears to be an app for dickheads to ask if stuff happened, when someone says something happened and shows pictures or video, ie grok, did a plane hit a fire engine at New York airport today

It's not just drivers being distracted though. A swathe of the population seems to be glued to their devices in public and work places spaces driving, cycling and walking whilst being blissfully unaware of what is happening around them.

fair point. cycling around campus the majority of people are glued to a screen and not looking where they are going.
I do think there are significantly more risks doing it whilst travelling at the speeds a car is capable of mind!

Black Mirror predicted all this.

The consequences of a vehicle driver being distracted are certainly more severe. However the likelihood could be reduced if everybody collectively was aware of their surroundings particularly in a dynamic environment.

In construction we look at physical seperation of vehicles and pedestrians, crossing points, visibility of vehicles and pedestrians, speed limits, reducing vehicle reversing, and banning the use of anything with an ear piece (other than specialist comms for approved operations. Oh and mobile phones can only be used in designated areas (eg site offices and welfare).

Lost one of the car keys last week. Bit annoying but got onto the guy I’ve used in the past who’s supplied a replacement and reprogrammed as required on different vehicles at various times, normally about £180 ish depending on vehicle.

He (and other key guys) tells me the manufacturer has security features installed on this vehicle meaning the car has to go to the main dealer. Key fob alone £378, plus labour/reprogramming costs, + vat (still waiting for final quotation).

Getting seriously pissed off with this modern motoring mullarkey, just seems a whole load of expense and a whole load of grief.
