The Car Thread

Job with Zenith now done and with it i say goodbye to the i4.
Absolutely loved it and will miss driving it. Stood up well in the very cold weather with it only losing around 10% of range.

New car on Thursday that i have no clue about yet but coming from a pool at a leasing company I am expecting it to be a Tesla or Polestar, let's see.

Had a hire car delivered today by my new employer to get me to Sheffield, that is a Kia Sportage. Happy with that for a few days but already had a reminder when taking it for a test drive that I can't just floor it like the EV, it doesnt like that one bit.

I'm serious looking at the Polestar 2, Tesla M3 is tempting but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

So, I am in a Nissan Ariya for a short while.

Seems ok but I miss the power of the i4 already

think we discussed car headlight glare on this thread?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn71xyjpdl2o

interesting article imo. I know my parents avoid driving at night time, and tbh I prefer not to, and only do so to go to football, gigs etc where at all possible, especially in winter months (as I feel the reflected light from wet surfaces makes the experience worse).
But the 2nd half of the article highlights that some of the aspects of the problem are perceptional. That said, since covid, I live on a dual carriageway, and am as sure as I can be that night time traffic is much less than pre pandemic.

I don't like driving at night here. Outside towns road lighting is pretty much non-existent so outside your headlight beams it is very dark indeed. So this seems to make oncoming headlights seem even more dazzling for me.

Plus the kangaroos are out at night and hitting a big boar is pretty much a write-off for anything under about two tonnes unless it has bull bars.

One of the cars at the Bathurst race last weekend hit a kangaroo at about 260kmh

The way I set that up, even Hwang couldn’t have missed getting it in the back of the net

Test driving a Volvo XC40 next week. All reviews are really positive so it will be very interesting.
We have really enjoyed our Kia Sportage, so it will have to be good to replace it.
