The Advice Thread

Right, this is a weird one, the obvious answer is err obvious, but any help is appreciated.
Had a complaint made about me by one of the kids parents, saying I'm calling him a liar, he's basing this on the fact the kid has gone home and said "Keith's said you're a liar".
Background to this is,
Kids dad is a preacher, believes in creationism, and the earth is 6000 years old,
his son was talking on the bus about dinosaurs and if I believed in them I said yea I do and they're millions of years old after testing the bones age.
Kid replied " my dad says they're only 6000 years old.
My reply " if your dad thinks that that's fine, but science says they're millions of years old"
I'm currently suspended, due to the allegation, awaiting the interview later in the week with HR, and like I say apart from the obvious answer (science is right, because science)how could I go about defending against this blokes imaginary fairy friend in the sky saying dinosaurs are 6000 years old?
I'm sure HR will be on my side, due to science and stuff, but also worry this could end up in the papers when matey boy gets told they've ruled in my favour and he's wrong (he just seems the sort to go to the papers to look a bigger fool than he does now)
Worst case scenario, I'm out of a job, least worst I'll be moved onto another run and have a file about me on record, and HR can tell him I've been sacked and he'll feel vindicated

What a stupid thing to complain about. Geeze, some people.
Stick to your guns and if preacher boy goes to the paper complaining that you believe in Dinosaurs then he'll look the idiot.
(I was raised as a practicing Catholic and believe in dinosaurs, they're ace)

Can't see a problem for you....if you stick with being reasonable in any conversations or interviews....don't see any issue

Suspension squashed, now back at work, HR ruled in my favour, because science, I've been moved onto another run.
HR going to tell complainant unfortunately facts outweigh opinion, and the facts in this case are dinosaurs existed, and have been proven to be millions of years old, and our staff member has been moved to ensure this type of misunderstanding doesn't happen again.
I'd say that's a bit of top trolling/bantz from our usually pretty crap HR

A win for common sense over taking offence.

should bloody think so

Last update from the creationist parent who complained, the passenger assistant off the old bus, texted me to say, parent has to take his child to school now, because they won't get on the bus with the new driver who they don't like.
parent asked the pa "when's Keith coming back? Because it's messing my work about( dunno how, guess I never knew creationist preachers had a set work time) by having to take Ben to school in the car"
Pa " he's not, because you complained about him, they've moved him onto another route, guess you'll have to deal with it"
Cheered me up way more than it should have

Paging @Keef - I’m interested in getting away for a couple of days on my bike. What do you carry on your bike and how easy is it to get around?

I've got a couple of large panniers on the back, 30 litres each, crosso made in Poland if you're interested.
Tubus rack to attach them to.
If I'm away for a week or so I pack
Tent- vango banshee 200
Sleeping bag- snugpac base camp I think
Sleeping mat- cheap inflatable from decathlon
Cooking set- trangia triangle with gas adapter, gas bottle, Czech army mess tins, tin mug, camping set cutlery.

clothes wise,
I wear
Breathable wicking t shirt,
Dickies work shorts( but if you see dickie, don't say anything, he doesn't know)
Socks and trekking shoes.
I take,
Fleece,
Cycling tights/leggings type things for if it's chilly ,
Base layer for if it's chilly,
Spare socks
Ex army poncho for if it's raining

2 inner tubes,
Small bottle chain lube,
Multi tool,
Puncture kit.

It sounds a lot written down but it's not when it's packed, roll your clothes not fold, takes up less space and put them in dry bags.
Tent and sleeping mat go on top of the rack, everything else in the bags.
Does make the bike heavy to lift on and off trains and the front wheel flaps about, you notice the weight pedalling when you start and on some hills, but that's it.
