Broadband: been with Virgin forever and am happy with their service but they keep putting the price up and think I'm being ripped off. Had a look at the opposition and for a bit more than half the cost I can get bt broadband/phonline. Going to give them a call and if they won't do anything am thinking if changeing.
My question is, will I need a new cable from the road up to the house and also through the house to where our router is situated?
Issue is that we're having a new drive put in shortly and I don't really want it dug up to put in a new cable.

That means you will still have the connection. I looked and found this, if it's any use to your situation... It is definitely worth contacting BT for a quote or some advise

One thing though, look for the best deal in your area and any switch site will help you out.
I had Broadband through BT and TV through Sky and I halved my monthly bill by switching everything to Sky...

Worth ringing up to cancel virgin. I did it last week (with no intention of leaving as I need fast internet and they are the only option) - got it down to £35 for internet, phone and one SIM.

Remember Virgin have their own cable, if you go with another supplier then that'll be off the BT one and with everyone at home at the moment that can be slow. I've gone to Virgin for that reason

I moved to Virgin a few weeks ago. Halved my collective Sky + BT monthly bill and got 7 times faster internet.

When it comes to internet/tv suppliers the grass is most definitely greener.

With the phone line connection depends how close the fibre gets - I'm fortunate as have a fibre connection to a junction box approx 200 yards away so only relying on the copper wiring for the last little bit.

Makes a massive difference to the download speed for internet use.

If it's at a good level then there are a mass of deals available - I pay £25 per month for all phone use & internet with no restrictions through Now TV. Not a big house so the Wifi range is fine though I'm only needing to run run 1 appliance off it at any one time.

Have to say virgin internet is worth every penny. I’ve got a 500mb connection - 3 of us on Teams all day plus wife on zoom and it doesn’t skip a beat.

I'm with Sky. Wife works from home, 2 boys (one on a computer either school lesson streaming or gaming, the other on PS) me on my computer or laptop and not a glitch for any of us

Yeah I'm definitely going to give them a ring, I really like their service and don't really want to move, just want to have some options so its not an empty threat

Seeing these posts was annoying me as when we moved here we had limited options on Internet. Virgin not in the area and superfast wasn't available. Current service is just about handling what we do here but the wife struggles at times when working from home and having Zoom or Teams meetings.
So had a look to see if anything had changed and they appear to have upgraded, so I can at least get some sort superfast shizzle. Will be activated on the 10th Feb.

Having been with both, I much prefer Sky over Virgin. The Virgin connection was nowhere near as good as it should have been and their customer service was arsey.

I don’t need ridiculous speeds though. I get 70mb through Sky and it’s been perfect throughout lockdown.
