The 12 Days of Christmas Tat: A Festive Blog Series

Cool, was waiting for that one to show up :)

Great stuff Dan. I think I am fortunate I never had to watch Fat Darren in action

Leon must be soon...

It didn't disappoint either. You could sense there was 20 years of pent up frustration waiting to come out. :icon_lol:

There's only two more that I think are 'nailed on' in Dans mind (maybe three ?) so the other three or four should be interesting :)

Unless these are not being done in order of 'tat' then surprised that he wasn't further up the leader board - immobile in the extreme (if he had been an Italian forward with that name he might well have been worth playing :))

As he wasn't then he wasn't (worth playing)

There's no order to it, you can't rank crap like this :)

Another excellent read there! Ferguson really was an utterly vanilla midfielder - just kind of there really. The contract renewal thing was bizarre though.

I have a vague recollection of a player being sent to somewhere foreign on trial with a view to a loan deal and ending up in the middle of a load of, ahem, "problems" with fans at their training ground, and I think it was Ferguson.

I'm amazed you didn't mention the Greek Island Incident as well.

Kevin Ashley has got to be in the mix. If I remember right we paid out something like £500,000, which was a lot for us back then, and got very little back in return.
Tony Lange is another that springs to mind.

From what I remember Fergusons goal against Coventry was a decent one (after Veno lashed a free kick into the top bin). Ferguson was gash but at times (maybe once?) he did link up well with Froggatt and a left back whose name escapes me. I say link up, Ferguson probably just kicked it into space and Froggy chased it.

Another top read, really enjoying these you big belmer. Zubar's should be quality.

I wish DW had seen Alan Boswell play. He would have had enough material for a book.

Ferguson really was a disappointment as I really did think we were going somewhere at that point, we were a bit unlucky with injuries. Thomas was never an international IMO but he was superb at this level, Marsden also impressed me initially but then went off the boil, was there a drink issue with him?

Not drink.....

To be honest the only midfielder I really remember hurting us around that time through injury was Thomas. As Deutsch has stated several times in his blog we were devoid of any quality, technical ability and character in our midfield for nearly a decade. For me watching Steve Corica every single week was enough to turn me off watching even though I still did. Carl Robinson's introduction was the only real highlight I remember, although he leveled off at competent-at-best as well. Tony Dinning seemed to have potential to me when he joined but again was just another bog-standard midfielder. Between Downing/Vaughan and Rae/Cameron I can't remember being impressed by any Wolves midfielder or combination of midfielders.

I meant injuries generally rather than just midfielder, think you're right about lack of talent between downing/Vaughan and rae/Cameron. Thought Robinson was just coming good when we signed Rae and there was no contest then, Rae would always be first pick out of those two.

Oh yeah in general we were fucking terrible when it came to injuries. Still are unfortunately. It does add weight to the fact that our backroom staff has been substandard for the best part of thirty years.
