Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

Reckon he may well want to go back to Spain which could lower his sale price as outside the big three there’s not a lot of cash and he’s definitely not going to one of the big three.

The summer of 2025 was a complete disaster run by 3 bufffoons, VP and his mate bringing in the biggest pile of crap ever seen. At the same time VP treating pre season like he was coaching the pub team and meanwhile Jeff overseeing it all and thinking all was good.

Who was it who pushed for the A Gomes deal. Do we know? It looks like bad judgement and presumably reflects one of the ‘new’ regime. Arguably someone rather than no one I guess, but at a price.

What ever happened to that Vitinha lad we had for a while? Never really made it at Wolves.
Wasn’t our player.
That being said it was Nuno who failed to pick him enough to see his talents and Lage who said no thanks (?)

Wasn't ours though? Pote is a good example perhaps.

But none of them fit Jinky's original criteria of first team players we though were shit who did better elsewhere. Collins is the best I can think of.

Probably Jackson, I'd imagine Edwards must have had input too.

For all the talk of poor Rob not having any options, choosing a gutless toddler and a striker who won't do anything until we drop as your first signings doesn't exactly reflect well on him

I thought it was RE who pushed for it as a favour to Angel as they had worked together at England level, AG wasn't getting game time in France so RE brought him here to put himself in the shop window

A few for discussion (some on loan obviously)

MGW, Trincao, Guedes, Nunes, Forbes, Collins, Vitinha, Goncalves, Raul*

*The version of Raul when we sold him is significantly better now, but not as good as pre Luiz assault.

Raul is a special case but of the other only Collins and Nunes were genuinely first team players. Both have done ok but we got decent money for both.

Obviously MGW should have played more but between Lage & our fans hounding him he had to go. We got ok money too,

Its hindsight but I think 99% of people thought he was a good signing.
He was, just hasn't worked out for a multitude of reasons.

Given our situation even signing Haaland and peak Messi in January couldn't have kept us up and would have been considered bad signings now.

That said I think Armstrong has turned out better than I expected, though is surely playing a role he won't play next season.

Angel Gomes has obviously got technical quality, the problem is every time someone has put a challenge in on him he hasn't wanted to know for the rest of the game, with a frame like his you need to be very resilient and he isn't - probably why nobody else in the Premier League was in for him even though he played for England less than 2 years ago.

Agree, if he had a more combative midfielder next to him with the right attitude he could be a very good player indeed.

Does having a more combative player make him stronger? He’ll still be tackled and physically weak in any challenges.

He’s suited to a league where he gets more time on the ball. Much like Trincao and Fer Lopez English football is too robust for them. The latter two may get stronger and able to cope as they get a bit older, though I doubt it, but Angel won’t.

We all know you automatically position yourself on the opposite side to whatever point I’m making, so I won’t bore anyone by continuing this discussion throughout the day.

My point was to the initial question raised on here which was “who will buy our players?”. Well they’ll have plenty of suitors, won’t they? Collectively our squad is shit, but there is still talented individuals in it.

Unless you think no one is going to interested in Joao Gomes, Andre, Yerson, Mane etc etc. Hell, even Hwang & Jackson will probably get offers. And it’s likely any player we flog will go on to look better at their next club because they won’t be playing in this collectively SHITE group. Leicester fans are probably thinking the same right now.
