Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I don't mind a few players of this ilk I don't want to be filling the squad out with them though, I know you've got to get up first but you've got to also show some form of medium to long term vision while doing it otherwise you need a whole new squad if you actually get there. They're different types of player but now we've got Armstrong id prefer a different profile of signing for the other attacking positions than someone like Adams.

I'm a big fan of having two players who have been successful together previously.

All negativity aside, I'm going to be absolutely fascinated to watch our XI for next season take shape.

Che Adams is a weird punchline on here, there is of course a huge drop off from peak Raul Jimenez to him but he's not a dreadful player or anything.

He and Armstrong would be fine together and I'm even more in favour of it if it means we play a front two and finally move away from having three centre halves holding hands and stopping nothing.

Why he'd move from Torino to us in the Championship is another matter, because I wouldn't.

As I see it, things go one of two ways. I am not commenting on manager as I expect him to still be here in August whatever the scenario.

Plan A: We actually take advantage of the couple of extra weeks knowing where we are playing and financial power compared to everyone else definitely in the championship before the final game of the season, to get a forward line of Adams and Armstrong in place which will score plenty of goals at that level, and also get a new midfield and sell Andre and Joao as quickly as possible with deals in place to replace them, and then move onto a complete rebuild of the defence and goalkeeping positions. Build a team ready to challenge for top two in the understanding that some of them will need replacing next summer if we achieve the goal.

Plan B: Dither for a few weeks. Find Spurs have come down, Wrexham have failed in the playoffs, Blues have got their chequebook out, and miss out on targets to Burnley because they have a consistent record of being too good for the championship and not good enough for the top flight. End up with a shit squad for the lower level and bugger about in around 14th.

I know which plan I prefer.

It’ll be we tried, but players were on holiday,
We tried but our targets were away at the World Cup,
We tried but it was pre season training and players are settled in,
We tried but couldn’t get in our top targets in before the transfer window shut,
Here’s a load of players who were old, not very good, free agents nobody wanted, we very happy they show a desire to play for wolves.
