Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I know what you mean, but I think last season's was the critical one, we utterly torpedoed that and now we're starting from scratch again (or worse)
Even if we had got half of the signings right last summer I still think we'd have struggled we were so poor under Pereira.

I fear Edwards being too pally with players and not getting rid.

A test will be wishing Doc well and sending him on his way with his contract up. Whatever you think of him, he's finished now.

I also don't want to hear how much Hwang understands the tactics. We all have eyes, it's not like he makes up for lacking the fundamental basics of being a professional footballer with towering displays of leadership and organisation on the pitch.

They might be still at the club as we won't shift them all but plenty of them should be on significantly reduced minutes if not bombed out of entirely until they *can* leave.

I’m leaning more and more towards sacking Rob, clearing the coaches, and selling as many of the squad as we reasonably can. Blow it all up; get as many memories of the last two or three seasons out the door and gone as we can.

Can you change your name to Alan Shi and soon you will be able to do this.

Presuming we are now on a Shi rota of course

I just think it's nobody is talking about relegation yet. I doubt anyone in the club thinks we are staying up, but other than the Shi ST piece everything has been positive about this season's possibilities.

He would stay at Wolves for the next 3,4,5 years if they were in the PL. They won't be though and he won't be here. Looking at those accounts last week we can't afford to keep him or J Gomes anyway as January sales won't even cover the Summer's shite recruitment with Cunha and RAN being put into the previous year. Best case we'll be spending what we recoup so they need to go.

I'm sure he will go in the summer, our choice if not his, but I did hear from someone with close links inside the club that Andre wants to stay regardless of relegation

Again, it will be an early indicator of how serious Fosun are. If he doesn't want to leave then you don't sell him. Ashley was dreadful but he used to try and hold on to Newcastle's players after relegation as he wanted to be where the TV money was.

Obviously he's too good for the Championship, but his game isn't going to be the difference between us coming back up or not, whereas the £30m we receive for him if spent correctly (stop laughing at the back) could.

Agreed. To get promoted you need goals from a number of players and to get that we need to bring players in. A team at the top is going to be on the front foot more often than not and whilst André is perfect for a mid or lower PL team he hasn’t shown enough going forwards to make keeping him a priority.

That’s the big question, it’s how we would spend the £30m - same conundrum yet again.

Firstly, I don’t think we’d get close to £30m for him.

Secondly, the money would probably buy us 2 x decent championship level midfielders.

I think I’d personally rather gamble on keeping Andre myself.

Brilliant footballer and obviously ideally you’d have him in your team in the championship but he’s annoyed me this season with several appearances where he’s just phoned it in. Mainly under Pereira as they obviously fell out but I don’t like that he has that in him.

He'd be the best player in the league by a mile but I just can't see him staying so very little point getting excited about it.

He's been much better recently since we've moved to using him as a single pivot. When he does move on hopefully it's to someone who has scouted him properly and knows how to get the best out of him instead of a club just looking for value without any thought of how he was going to fit into the squad like we were.
