We should easily be the wealthiest Championship team come June/July. No-one on ridiculous enormous legacy wages (hi Gonçalo) any more either.

Arias and Agbadou probably off this week for £40m+

All these need to go:

Sa, Doherty (do not give this man a new contract FFS), Munetsi, Hwang, Hoever, Bentley, Johnstone, Tchatchoua

I'd like André, J Gomes and Krejci to stay but they won't

We'll surely try to lose Sasa, the poor bloke

Lopez will probably stay at Celta, one way or another

Leaves a lot to do but we can buy the best that can possibly play in the Champo

New GK x 2 (or 3)

New RB x 2 (if Lima isn't up to it, find out between now and May please)
New CH x 1 (minimum)
New LB pending, I don't much like Hugo Naylor or Wolfe but they should be ok a division down

New CM x 2 (minimum, remains to be seen if A Gomes will stay, Doyle and/or Bouba will come back)

Wingers (as many as possible as we don't fucking own any)

ST x 1 if Tolu goes, might do with another one regardless

I'd imagine the player rejected those options fairly swiftly once Celta were back for him.

I'd have gone down the Champo road (what is he proving back in Spain as to our future use, not much) but if he wants to go back there and we end up getting most of our money back, that'll do.

I don't think he's ever going to be up to English football, he's got ability but so does Trincao and if you put the latter in say, Villa's team, he'd still look rubbish.

I’ve got reasonable hope for next season now as it looks like a lot of the dross accumulated over the past 3 windows has or will be moved on and some at a profit.

I'd have given him 2 options. Our bench or the Championship, we aren't learning anything where he is.
Maybe we don't want to learn and we just want to take a Mulligan* on it. Which tbh I would.

We've gone up in the past with the likes of John Ruddy, Paul Butler, Karl Henry, Chris Iwelumo and Leo Bonatini being key players. We need that kind and then deal with the aftermath later. We can't afford to take a punt on some flake from Spain now.

*Not Gary

He's bombed so badly I don't know what else we'd want to see. If he was too lightweight for the PL, he'd get snapped in half in the Champo.

Championship is a marathon. Need quality (obvs) more importantly attitude and stamina. Plus luck with injuries. Can't afford flakey lightweights

I don't know Alan. You’ve stuck up for wretchedly hopeless footballers, rank filth in terms of ability, so seems odd to rush to bin someone who’s just 21 and got evident talent. No he’s been no good, but there’s ability there and he’s trying to learn the game in the midst of a complete and utter shit show. He’s no Fabio Silva, Trincao might be the decent comparable but even that doesn’t quite ring true to me.

The game's slower and you have more time on the ball, hence one paced Tommy Doyle being reasonable at that level.

Tommy Doyle who is in and out of the Birmingham side and has 0 goals this season, you mean?

The wretched footballers I stick up for actually play. Fer got ~240 minutes in 6 months. That speaks volumes when he’s also been sent out on loan to his former club.

Besides, I stick up for them mostly because I think we speak on them so fucking rudely at times. This is known.

He's a defensive midfielder and he hasn't been in and out. He was sub last week, started 15 of the last 17 before it.

Even worse to have zero goals then! Only three assists too.

I do get your point, though. “FerLo” would probably be fine in the Championship.

Some of this is management. I feel like. Lambert barely played Saiss and he had that ridiculous comment about him being away for the AFCON and so needing to see what it was like without him to justify some of it didn't he?! (Might be making that worse than it was)

Definitely; like Dendoncker hardly played for his first six months, but that felt like a Nuno thing and we all trusted his decisions. We also didn’t dump Leander back on Anderlecht that winter.

Suppose ultimately I don’t see any reason to give Fer the benefit of the doubt when we so quickly turn on others, ridiculously so.

Hmm.

Appreciate the sentiment. But it rides roughshod over any sort of discretion. I haven’t ‘turned quickly’ on Hwang for example. Seems like a lovely chap, I never boo him. Indeed applauded him off when he was unacceptably jeered off by morons at the weekend. He didn’t deserve that. But he’s fckin sht Al. And so is Munetsi. And I’ve had to sit and watch them for hours. Lopez is young and has barely played. For sure he’s struggled. The smart money is on him not making it for Wolves. But he’s got ability, and shown glimpses, and he’s no tit unlike others. Your poor review of him is beneath you.
