Summer 2022 Transfer Window

The comparisons to Grealish just aren't applicable for so many reasons. Grealish is an attacking player, he is English, local lad, there was this massive hype and media narrative surrounding him specifically, there was a media narrative at the time that Villa had had a great season, it seemed like Villa were on the up because the owners were likely to spend (this didn't manifest - but personally it looked like they were set to improve 12 months ago, certainly in comparison to us), he had 4 years left on his deal and Villa had set the bar with a release clause. I surely can't be the only one who thinks there could easily have been a situation where Grealish stayed for another season.

I don't doubt Neves loves the club but he came here on the premise of being able to develop and move on to a bigger club, he wouldn't have signed for us in the first place without it. We're quite obviously in decline as well, have been since lockdown and by the sounds of it the club isn't prepared to invest without selling him. Sad to say but he gains nothing from staying. I reckon we get £40m for him, I value him higher but the situation and my lack of faith in the club's hierarchy makes me think that will be the price.

Barely seen Palhinha play, I'm guessing I saw him for Braga against us but I thought Braga looked shit in both games against us. He never stood out for Braga or Portugal in the games I watched, some people I talk to seem to think he's a great fit and others a terrible fit. I have no idea so will wait and see what happens.

We need more than just the Neves fee to reshape this squad now i fear, and not just cash! Attitude, mentality, it needs a shift.
Irrelevant of your thoughts on Bruno when he was appointed, the capitulation towards the end of the season, and the seemingly unrest within the squad is definitely cause of concern.

In our time in the prem, we’ve never been able to pick fault with the players application or ‘harmony’ within the squad, until now

Yes. Which is why its a bit misleading to just judge by the final league position compared to original expectations. We were 8th for ages with a healthy lead over the chasing pack but let it slip with relegation form that ended up with his dropping to 10th. We appeared to be 'on the beach' when we still had a realistic chance of Europe. This is what concerns me greatly

I don't think it's so much "being on the beach". More the manager doesn't have a clue once his Plan A is effectively countered.

His sole tactical gambit is to play Dendoncker in a weird role that makes no sense instead of a forward, which means if you've done your research then you're likely to beat us before a ball's kicked. Our last win was against Villa who completely vacated midfield, Gerrard did a terrible job that day. Our other two wins in the final three months of the season were against Everton (nearly went down, worst season they've had in nearly 30 years) and Watford (one of the worst PL teams ever).

The 8th, and up untill February an actual chance of top 4/6 was hugely misleading. Fact is we were beating teams by the odd goal, in games that for the majority could’ve gone either way. There is something to be said of teams eeking our results, not not nearly every win. We never seemed to comfortably beat teams, which many of the top half teams do. It was only a matter of time before our fortunes changed.

As soon as they did, our inept ability to score, and non existent ability this year to come from behind added to the capitulation.

I’m not sure players were ‘on the beach’, they just looked lost. We didn’t look like winning games. I mean, Norwich are absolute pish and look at our record again at them this season.

It was a good job the season finished when it did. If we had 10 games to go, I would had seriously been worried.

I never thought I’d be saying this in December, but I’m very much in the replace the manager camp. I’ve been very vocal in the fact he hasn’t got players to play his ‘preferred style’. But still, even with a preferred style, when things aren’t going your way you have to be able to adapt. He has failed to show he is capable of that at all

To me it just shows that this summer is likely to be fraught with the same issues and weaknesses we’ve known the transfer people to have for a while now, particularly their inability to get terms agreed and properly signed before these deals “collapse” or players sign for other teams.

Great to know the back room boffins are working hard on getting a complaint over the line. Fingers crossed we’ll get a photo of him in a Wolves shirt with the name ‘sorry’.

Just gotta hope there is a meaty penalty clause in there if he doesn't want to join us.

The fact we've gone to find some lawyers in Brazil suggests not

I don't want us to sell our best player and sign someone who might be "ok".

It's a small sample size but based on what I've seen Palhinha doesn't look very good at all. He's probably good on FIFA which is why Twitter demands we sign him.
He’s not.

Real Mallorca, managed by Mexican coach Javier Aguirre, has been mooted as a possible destination for Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, while there is also interest from clubs in the US and Mexico.

It is said that #Wolves would be open to offers for the forward.

Bang goes all that matchday revenue and clubs shop revenue from those millions of Mexican fans, guess the focus moves to the millions of Koreans instead

IANAL but I think the most likely scenario here is that by starting legal action, it ties up the player's registration making him unable to do anything useful with Arsenal. At which point, Arsenal enter arbitration, agree a fee with Wolves and everyone moves on with their lives.

Wolves had already taken out a loan from Macquerie against future YouTube royalty revenues :(

Explains why hwang is so prominent in our match day 11. Maybe we will bring in Keisuke Honda to really tap into the Asian market..

Hadn't heard that name in a while so just searched what he is up to. Apparently he's now the manager of the Cambodian national team and has been since 2018! Really weird because he hasn't retired as a player and whilst managing them has played in all of Australia, Netherlands, Brazil, Portugal, Azerbaijan, and now plays in Lithuania!

What a strange career.

I had to rely on Google as well to make sure he wasn’t retired. Great free signing on FM05 if memory serves
