Summer 2022 Transfer Window

They're not comparable as players. You'd play them both together not either/or.
Be surprised if Arsenal bought both in one summer though. Think Arsenal have enough defensive midfielders anyway fortunately for us. More worried about United buying him

Agree with all this. I'm hoping we keep him.

Agreed, but it'd be surprising if Arsenal were to buy both Tielemans and Neves.

Which clubs are likely to go for Neves?

United - possible, and probably the most likely.
Barca - they don't have the cash? Or do they?
City - Nope
Liverpool - They're already really strong there
Chelsea - Possible, as their midfield is aging, but what is going on with them? Would they consider him good enough?
Real - another aging midfield, is he of that class though?
Spurs - Not a huge upgrade from us, but they play a formation his is accustomed to,

Where else would he be likely to go? Juve? Inter?

I don't know, much as i understand there is a fear he will leave, i'm not sure there are many (any?) clubs where the stars align in terms of cost, need and profile?

Real have got Camavinga and Valverde who are their future and both under 24.

I think Chelsea and Utd would be in for him.

Yep, was thinking of Kroos and Modric specifically.

It'll be interesting to see how hungry Chelsea's new owners are. They're obviously different positions, but they'll have Gallagher back next season too.

United are the biggest risk definitely, but there aren't many outside of that.

I've long thought Utd and Arsenal were the most likely options. I don't think the cost will match the profile for one of the big European clubs where statement is as important as talent.

He's apparently big mates with Fernandes, they'll overpay if necessary and he always plays well against them so I think he'll end up at Utd if he's prepared to overlook the mess they are in and buy into being part of the solution. Closest thing they'll have to Carrick since Carrick

That's going to rather depend on Ten Haag, who is pretty certain to bring back Van Der Beek, and actually give him some game time.

I don't think he's cut out for the PL. Didn't do anything at Everton either until he discovered he had a niggle. If he did come back it'd be Fernandes' place he'd take they'd still need another couple of midfielders

I suspect Arsenal think Xhaka is at least as good as Neves so wouldn't be in the market

I don't think Newcastle are in play as it's not about the money for him, he wouldn't still be here on £50kish a week if it were. They are still at least a couple of seasons off Top 4

Liverpool have been really smart at identifying replacements for core players, they rotate between Thiago, Henderson, Fab and then Keita has actually started to look okay as the advanced for the midfield 3, however I could totally see them having identified a player like Neves for the Henderson role, especially as like Fab he can be used in a number of different areas within the midfield and could play as the Thiago style deep play maker too if needed.

Newcastle are bloody miles away from the top 4 if you ask me. They arguably have less players suited for a top 6 push than any of us, Leicester, Palace or West Ham. I get the summer may change that but a lot of their current purchases seemed stop gaps other than Bruno Guimaraes.

Hard to see a team playing Chris Wood challenging for top half let alone top four, Wilson is made of poppadums and Saint Maximin is looking more like Traore every time I watch him. Trippier is ok but getting on a bit and I'm not sure Guimaraes would get into any of this year's top four. Add in a lot of players on a par with Josh Brownhill and there's not a chance they'll be top four next year.

They should recruit well this Summer I'd have thought as they aren't offering possible relegation like they were in January. Won't be at the top table, but could attract players interested in the project over us Leicester or Villa for instance. West Ham will always have London to offer. I'd expect them to be best of the rest next year. Can see them going for Zaha, Ward Prowse types

Bit of chatter around on social media tonight because Podence has unfollowed Wolves on Instagram.

Probably nothing, but on the back of the bust-up rumours perhaps hard not to wonder if he's already been told that he's gonna be moved on this summer.

Scrubbing the socials is a classic NFL move. Most things eventually come from there to here. The rumours are him to us rather than vice versa though

Heard the same as Punts at the weekend regarding Podence but also that he wants guaranteed European football. If he moved abroad he would get that and it maybe gets us funds to replace him with someone who has more end product even though he’s been our biggest threat.

Quotes from Johnny Phillips, apparently.

It must be getting close to ST renewal time…
