Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I thought that was the Korean lad, is he with us next season?

Eggert Jonsson was the player I was trying to remember the name of in the worst signings thread! Such an odd signing.

Joking aside on the loans there are a few there such as Bolla that I'd be interested to see stay with us for Pre-season at least.

Virtually everything outside our best starting eleven, isn’t going to be good enough unfortunately.

That’s the reality.

We have 3 really good FB/ WB's and we can add Bolla who has excellent reviews.

We don't know about MGW or where he would fit into Bruno's system.

Cundle looks decent at the top level and Donk is as bang average a midfielder and squad player as you get at this level.

I don't think we need two starting keepers (nobody else does) which leaves the thorny issue of front players and central defenders where I agree with you.

And according to those same sources we are going to have a big transfer window with Bruno being backed properly. Don't shoot the messenger btw....

Yeah, that guy has been spouting rubbish "ITK" nonsense for 20+ years. Pretty much never right. He probably did know some people in the gin and soda Hayward days, but I very much doubt he does now, and even when he did have connections it was of zero value.

I'm not sure I actually want to give Lage a load of money anyway, he isn't very good.

Just popped on there to read it too (how many video adverts?) and was disappointed to see it was the same old ITKs

Don’t go on the mix and don’t know any of the posters. My only experience has been when we were apparently signing a load of players I’d never heard of and people spaffing their pants over it on here when it turns out they were actually a bit shit and weren’t very good at relegation threatened Reading.

If these guys are full of shit, why are people still hanging on to their every word?

Is anyone actually hanging on their every word? If anyone is then they're delusional.

Anyone can throw out vague statements like "we're going to have a big Summer" because that's subjective anyway. Also "a deal is already agreed" is bollocks without further clarification - as they can stay tight lipped and then after the first signing go "that was the player I was told about"

Unless people with past reliability give specific names it's best just to ignore as bollocks.

The only way we will have a "big summer" of incoming players is if we sell a few notable ones ourselves, they've already made it clear that they aren't interested in funding transfers externally to any big extent.

They had one decent ITK on there. They hounded him off after not everything came out as he reported and he now refuses to post.

Genuine ITK's tend to only be relevant at a point in time when someone knows a player or backroom staff member. Like Kevin Cooper's next door neighbour. That info disappears when the contact does. The latest one talking about his number of sources like he works for Sky Sports is just looking to have his ego stroked. Info is so vague he can easily walk it back. Even GFFH on here who used to be spot on, has missed with his last few posts, although I don't doubt they were done in good faith

I don't get this at all. He's got us in 8th place, genuinely challenging for a place in Europe. Is he fantastic? No. Is he bad? No. He's pretty much the same manager as Nuno, getting the same kind of play and the same kind of results. The difference is Nuno did it with the squad he built, playing the way he built it to play and Bruno is doing it with a squad he inherited and playing in the only way Nuno's squad can play.

Surely the time to judge Lage is when he has had the opportunity to build the squad in his image, playing the way he wants to play? If the style and results deteriorate then you have grounds to say he isn't very good. Saying it now just makes it seem like you're saying it because that's what you said when he was appointed and because you didn't want Nuno sacked.

My opinion on Lage is that he has strengths and weaknesses, he's done a lot of good but also made a lot of mistakes. The players clearly like him and respond well to him, and he seems to be a very good coach. His downfall seems to be picking random weak teams for no explicable reason, and being quite slow/poor to make in game changes. Part of that could be that the players he has available aren't adaptable enough to play the way he wants and seem to revert to Nuno's way of playing as a safety net.

I'd give him another season with a changed squad to see if he can progress before writing him off as 'not very good'.

Some good points here.
Seems to me if we don't want to just bumble along the same as this season and potentially regressing, we have two options. Give him some players he wants or get rid. I don't think we can expect to improve with him as coach + the same squad.
Sack him or back him.
