Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I do like how tall striker automatically equals useless lump in the eyes of many this summer.
Lacina Traore ruined the game for anyone taller than 6'6", ay

You'd recognize him, I bet. Massive Ivorian lad, horrendous footballer. Signed by the likes of Everton, Monaco, Anzhi (when they were rich), and CSKA during the 2010s. Made a living entirely off the fact that he is 6'8".

To be fair, I just called him a lump. I would need a YouTube highlights clip and someone who watched him once to give me a detailed report before classing him as useless.
Extra useless points if they are crap on FM or FIFA of course.

When a striker's defining characteristic is their height, vs their actual ability, its fairly natural for thoughts to travel in that direction

Whilst the YouTube videos do have to be taken with a healthy pinch of salt they can be a useful little insight.

That Henry fellow who was linked earlier in the summer looked a unit but he headed the ball like Fabio Silva and all the best bits on his compilation were with the ball on the floor. It was mainly against weak Belgian opposition so you have to view the results with some scepticism but it should still point to where his strengths lie. Similar looking at this Shomurodov guy just now, don't think there was a single header in his best bits from last season, not a great deal of goals either mind, but he didn't Sakho levels of disorganized limbs and used the ball well a few times.

Gladon and Cutrone show reels of shinning things in from a few yards out are the real worrying signs for me, if that's the best they've got for a highlights reel then you're in trouble.

Who's to say that's the case with any of the people that have been linked to Wolves this summer though? It's easy to pick up something factual like height from a quick search and use that in a description whereas it's much more difficult to trawl through game footage and make a reasoned analysis of someone's ability. Stick some reference to that lack of research into a headline and there's your lazy narrative.

Big fan of Ajorque when I have seen him, he had a special on him during the Ligue 1 show that was on BT, I've been oddly. Interested in him since as he is from Réunion, which is one of the French Island countries/Colonies and is also where Payet and Laurent Robert are also from.

I remember when we signed Steffen Iversen - I nearly wet myself.

Genuinely thought we’d signed the Norwegian Maradona.

I watched the "lump" on YouTube earlier. He looks alright. As said quite reminiscent of Jimenez but maybe a bit bigger and ever so slightly more languid.

I'll have you know that I 'discovered' Ronaldiniho on Championship Manager
Wait until you hear that Charlotte hold "Discovery Rights" to Aaron Ramsey...
