Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Why is it “pretty clear” he has “little interest in staying here”? Have I missed something?

Every single photo of him I’ve seen since the players came back he’s grinning from ear to ear & Bruno has already said he will play a big part.

I don’t think you can blame MGW for holding off on signing a new contract. Probably waiting to see how the first half of the season goes and how much he’s going to be used before committing. Can’t blame him for that, surely? Just like I don’t think most would blame Wolves for selling if a bid of £30m (or close to) came in.

I don’t think he’s forcing a move & he’s on the plane to Spain so fingers crossed. He definitely seems on a hiding to nothing when it comes to a section of our support, though (not aimed at you, Lupo).

Agreed.

Gibbs-White has had two loans where he has worked his ass off, fitted the teams, played the roles asked and looked good, last season from Xmas onwards he was excellent, including doing a great job as a false nine when needed. He was a huge reason for Blades even making the playoffs.

The people saying he doesn't want to play are probably close to those who kept up the "bad attitude, fallen out with Nuno, doesn't work hard enough" narrative when he was here, despite their being zero real evidence that was actually visible or shown of that and all the reports being contrary.

Being unsure about how a club feels about you given his previous treatment, is entirely justifies.

I can see the attraction of going into an environment with senior figures he's well accustomed to and the Lampard effect (not that I think he's shown anything as a manager yet), but that club is an absolute basket case and he'll be under huge pressure from the fan base if he's walking in as a £30m player and their Richarlison replacement. Very, very risky I'd say.

For MGW? No chance, just take the Forest offer of the straight £20m or keep him

Not sure the player would be ecstatic about joining Forest if he knows another interested party would give him £80k every week, no way a newly promoted side are matching that.

Some guy off Bein is suggesting the fee is more like £14m rising to £20m
I think that guy is on crack. Everything the club is saying to the press is MGW is not for sale, Bruno wants him, and him not signing a new contract won't mean he's not staying. I guess Everton are trying our resolve, but it wouldn't surprise me if MGW is here for the season. It would be pretty stupid to get him embedded in the squad in pre season just to fuck him off before the start.
I've been wrong before, but i'm pretty sure he won't be going unless someone comes in with 30+, and then maybe still not.

MGW will stay I think .

Better the devil you know and all that . Forest and Everton - there is far too much uncertainty there for him I think . Not sure if Palace are interested as well .
One decent season with Wolves will do him a lot of good and raise his profile far higher . He is older now as well and hopefully more mature as a result .

I haven't said he doesn't want to play, I'm just unsure whether he wants to stay but maybe I'm guilty of believing many of the reports saying that he is reluctant to sign a new contract and sees his future away from Wolves. Apologies and all that

I guess it’s about what is going to motivate Morgan in terms of whether he leaves or not?

If it’s money - yes, he’ll probably go elsewhere.

If it’s game time, and Lage wants to take a look at him, there’s no way he starting more games for Everton next season than Wolves.

We really don’t need to sell him - worst case is that he has an average season here and he’ll still be worth the same money next year. Best case is that he’s amazing and can demand the massive wages as a result.

There is also absolutely no way Everton are paying £30m for him either. Not a chance. He’s totally unproven at the top level.

Only my opinion, of course.

If there is one club in the PL that will spend way over the odds for a player, it is Everton

An average season would definitely knock his value down, at the moment his star is as high as it's been so far following a good season at Sheff Utd. Only proviso being that it was Championship football so people are gambling a bit that he'll step up it they buy him this summer, if he stays at Wolves a year and doesn't make waves then why would you gamble? You'll pay the price for a Championship player.

It's a little more than just a lad who's had a good Championship season though tbf, since 17 he was widely regarded as one of the most talented young players in Europe, was on the golden boy longlist, and a part of the England u17 side that won the world cup. Injuries and poor management have harmed his development, and there's obviously got to be a bit of that on him too, but he'll have been on radars all over the place for years. Now he's showing that that promise could be breaking through, you're looking at somebody that at the worst case now will go on to be a decent PL player. He may have missed too much football to be on the Foden/Sancho kind of scale, but I think he's got a ceiling similar to the likes of Gallagher. He's not just a punt from the Championship.

He's grown, he's bulked, he's shown he's up to the rigours of a full football calendar, he's learned how to press, and work hard, and add end product to his technical ability. I don't care if he's unsure about signing a new deal at this point, you can't blame him. But if we play him, use him properly, and give him the kind of support he got at SheffUtd, he'll be happy, productive, and then sign a new deal.

Lol. He's already got a mrs mate, don't act so thirsty.

It's a little more than just a lad who's had a good Championship season though tbf, since 17 he was widely regarded as one of the most talented young players in Europe, but never seemingly been capable of making a dent in the Wolves team or really been any noise of anyone trying to sign him until now was on the golden boy longlist, and a part of the England u17 side that won the world cup. Injuries and poor management have harmed his development, and there's obviously got to be a bit of that on him too, but he'll have been on radars all over the place for years. spent the last two years at midtable Championship clubs, big radar signature Now he's showing that that promise could be breaking through, you're looking at somebody that at the worst case now will go on to be a decent PL player. because no-one has ever done well in the Championship but fell short of PL standard. He may have missed too much football to be on the Foden/Sancho kind of scale, but I think he's got a ceiling similar to the likes of Gallagher. He's not just a punt from the Championship.

Facts, sure.

He was literally nominated for the Golden Boy award - surely making him one of the most highly rated youngsters of that time? Are you suggesting that players like that don't have their progress monitored by clubs? I'll grant you the third bold is a prediction, but given it's come from me you can take it as a fact, because, well, I'm me

When did he even get this 'nomination'? From what I've found online he only qualified 2019-2021 and the results online only have the top 20 for each of those years. Surprisingly he doesn't feature in of those lists.

This year Wolves are blessed with two candidates on the longer list of nominees I can find, big up Fabio and Ki-Jana, alongside prestigious names like Kacper Kozlowski.

Ki-Jana Hoever got nominated for that. I wouldn't give you the steam off my piss for him.
I'm hoping there's still a player there. He has all the tools, just needs maturity.

I'm also hoping Fabio comes good for the same reason.

For me I personally think Hoever has shown me more that he could be a top level pro, than Fabio has. Issue is he has also shown he is more likely to be a struggling L1 level journeyman too.

I'm not sure what either of you are seeing with Hoever to be honest. He's too small and slight to play at centre half, can't cross for shit and he's slow. Plus his attitude is awful (not that Lage should have called him on that publicly, that's really awful management to compound the matter). He'd look a bad buy at £500k, in fact I'm sure Bolla who cost us around that is better.
