Stats and Analysis Thread

Does the x axis consider that the defender didn’t even make a tackle? Just guide them down the line/force them wide etc.

It says Kyle Walker only wins a tackle 57% of the time. But I’d say with strong confidence that the majority of the time he is actually dribbled past he recovers and snuffs out the attack by either winning the ball or preventing progress of the attacker. I also know Kyle Walker is more aggressive trying bt win it as He knows he’s got great recovery pace.
 
It's stats about being dribbled past, nothing more, nothing less.
 
Interestingly, I looked at some of Semedos stats over 90 minutes on fbref.

Passing: 5th most passes. Vitinha and Buur are ahead of him, along with Moutinho and Neves

Tackles & interceptions: 4th behind Otasowie, Hoever and Neves


To my eye he always seems really involved in our play and almost becomes a 3rd midfielder alongside Moutinho and Neves
 
He’s very capable in the middle third. Sound technique, good ball carrier, good movement and decent passing ability. However, his attacking output has been dissapointing/non existent and defensively he’s got a mistake in him.

Hopefully he can improve for next season but I do feel we may have been better served signing Matty Cash for half the fee, half the wages, English and 4 years younger.
 
I wonder if he'd make a better midfielder than defender. He looks much more comfortable, as you said, in the middle third than he does in any other third.
 
Was it Maldini who said "if I have to tackle then I've made a mistake"?
 
Made a spectacular mess last time I posted in here! but hopefully, my checking of this is more accurate (it was a spreadsheet error that sunk me last time)

Since we returned to the prem this is how many points we have gained from the big six, plus Burnley added in

Arsenal - 10
Chelsea - 8
City - 7
Spurs - 7
Utd - 6 (3 draws in there and then that crappy last minute goal when they stole a win this year, just for context)
Burnley - 5
Liverpool - 0

The stats completely back up how many areas we need to improve on to survive. With those stats we should probably have gone down . I can’t see us being that fortunate again so hopefully 🙏 lessons learned

Worst expected goals per shot 0. 08. Rare as hens teeth showing we are not creating anything dangerous ie powderpuff.
We score great goals or nothing it seems .
We are below the prolific Sheffield United. ( ps they’re bottom and relegated)
Passes into the area we are also bottom. Again creating no danger so creating no chances. You can’t blame WJ if we aren’t giving him chances. ( below WBA who are second bottom)
Our pressure in the attacking third we are bottom so we sit too deep according to the stats and don’t press high enough.
Low on ball recovery. 2nd and third balls won by the opponents. Blocked passes very low if not bottom which is fine if we are a high possession side but we are not. This was our strength in previous seasons and it’s really dropped this season.

Scored first twice in 23 games.
Looks more like relegation form to me, not silly. We are fortunate playing how we have this year to be safe with 5 to go
 
Well given we've never even been close to being a relegation fight and I can easily give you half a dozen games where we should have got more than we did, I think I'll say you're being a daftie. Again.

You think we've been worse than Fulham, really?

I can blame "WJ" for being one of the worst footballers I've ever seen, thanks.
