Spoilt Princesses moaning about Media Coverage of Wolves

Still it was an interesting read and it’s always good to watch it on YouTube again.

It was but if I am reading stuff before I have finished my bucket of coffee I will get annoyed at the little things

This is where nearly 15 years of hanging around with me gets you...

I've downloaded the Athletic app so I can read some of Timmy's articles for free and I like them much more than his E&S work.

The incorrect comment about why we were booing Waddle annoyed me too but, aside from that, it was a very enjoyable article.

Daniel Taylor from the Guardian is also joining the Athletic. They are gathering some top journalists (& Tim)

Like I said the other day, if he sticks to reporting on current day matters and keeps tightly to the narrative, he's alright. He can actually write in that context.

I don't rate his opinion/comment stuff. You should be in a position where even if the reader disagrees with you, he can see your point. That isn't the case.

If you're doing nostalgia, stick with things you actually remember.

It's so bad.

After all, he has played out of position ever since he arrived at Wolves

No he hasn't. Unless you also consider Conor Coady to have played out of position for two and a half years.

A right-footed player who would ideally be on the right of a defensive four

Yeah but we clearly didn't buy him to be a stock RB did we...as we don't play a back four. So we had a plan in place, barring the eventuality that we just buy random players and worry about what we do with them when they get here.

His goal at Newcastle recently was fairly straightforward. After Martin Dubravka flapped at Matt Doherty’s cross, the Spaniard had the simple task of volleying in from the penalty spot.

This time last year, though, Otto would have been hugging the halfway line. He would not have trusted himself to make such an impact in the final third.

MOTD, BT and Sky even did analysis showing how often he'd arrive at the far post off crosses or find himself around the centre of the box in open play. What is this nonsense? He's never been stuck out wide or hanging around at the back. He's continually over the halfway line, like all our wingbacks.

And at that time, I was one of those who was not entirely convinced by the former Celta Vigo man.

At what time? Last November? When he'd already played really well for three months and been called up for Spain?

After the departure of out-and-out left-footer and set-piece specialist Barry Douglas, having the replacement playing on his weaker side was a head-scratcher.

Not really as we knew Baz wasn't a great defender, if you bothered watching you'd also have seen that he had virtually no impact from open play attacking-wise after Christmas of the promotion season.

But now – even with Vinagre developing nicely – Otto is very much the first-choice option. If you are picking Wolves’ strongest XI, he has to be in it.

But Otto is completely and utterly dependable – an unselfish, proper team player who gives his absolute maximum every time he pulls on gold and black.

You make him sound like Dave Edwards FFS. Show a bit of respect.

0/10 before I even get on to how clunky some of the prose is. Or the fact that he calls him "Otto" five times. No-one calls him that. This is Otto.

You really don't write enough new stuff Dan!

Life gets in the way sometimes.

All in good time though.

Wolves correspondents I can remember for the E&S in quality order
Instone
Spiers
Swarbrick
Nash
Edwards

There is an appreciable drop from Instone to Spiers and a chasm from Spiers to Swarbrick whose post game analysis isn't reminiscent of anything I've seen, just a series of statements to hold up her preconceptions

There was also Steve "I understand" Marshall who was around in the Hoddle days. Was probably below OG Tim, research was absolutely rubbish. There was plenty to justifiably moan about then but he'd just get stuff totally wrong.

I'd moved out of the area by then and the digital content would have been limited I guess

You weren't missing much!

Oddly the E&S punted him for Nash and just moved him to cover Albion. Like when a Cabinet minister is doing a shocking job and so they just move him or her to mess some other department up.
