Southampton (A) 13.04.2019

Not got my usual stream working and even commentary on the app not working now. All in all a first half I'd rather forget!

Disappointing stuff so far.

Back three all playing like they've had a few tins before kick off, Neves playing too safe for my liking and not forcing the issue as the spare man in the middle of the park, wingbacks nullified by Southampton's defence, Moutinho largely anonymous and the front two not been given any real service. Southampton haven't really done a lot for the most part, just sort of sat back and took it, decent play for both their goals but so many mistakes/half arsed play from Wolves to allow it them to happen, looks like they might have tweaked the shape in midfield now too so more difficult to take advantage of that as a route back into the game.

Might be worth going to Vinagre/Traore as wingbacks and playing into them short so they can run at their men seen as the space isn't there for the switch to get Doherty/Jonny in behind, can see Wolves having a lot of the ball second half but unless something changes in the approach I imagine it'll be a lot of toil with little reward.

Oh surprise a nothing yellow card for a nothing challenge yet fuck all for that big lump earlier on.
Saiss has been pretty awful for me especially distribution wise.
Dendoncker pretty anonymous.

It was the same at our place if I remember rightly, he got away with 4 fouls before getting booked meanwhile Jota got booked for breathing on him

I would put Vinagre on but not sure about Traore just yet. We just ended up getting it to his feet and hoping he can get a cross in. Become very predictable with him on the pitch.

Been OK going forward but look very ripe at the back. Sorry but Saiss is a disaster back there and should be taken off at half time. Not just him but the first 2 goals are mostly his fault. Good header from Boly but I think Southampton look more likely to score than us.

Soton look more likely due to pace, we need to up ours when we get in the final third but that's been a problem for a while (when we aren't doing that "on the break" tactic)

Not sure it would be any more predictable than now with the give it to Coady or Neves and look to hit a wingback strategy, as long as Southampton's back five hold their line that approach isn't likely to have any joy.

I agree with that completely - When he gets the ball, everyone stops and watches him - it’s partly his fault for holding it so long before he moves, but still weird from the others too.

This is not going to be our day i think.

Jonny has been excellent today. Involved all over the pitch. Along with Joao.

Lost complete picture and sound from Bein Sports. Tried Turkey and Norway channels but nothing.

really nice from traore there, donk shoulda taken the first touch shot

Bednarik has been very good for them.

It was a poor cross. Easy to defend. It needed to be over the first defenders head.

Good run though.
