Societal collapse?

Officers were first called to Luxor Street, Harehills, at about 5pm today (Thursday) to an “ongoing disturbance” involving “agency workers and some children”.

In a detailed statement released well past 1am, West Yorkshire Police said that the chaos is believed to have been "instigated by a criminal minority". The Harehills area of Leeds was engulfed in chaos late on Thursday, with a bus being torched and gutted by flames, a police car overturned and rocks pelted at officers.

The police force said: "Police are continuing to attend to a serious disorder incident in the Harehills area this evening. A large number of public order officers have been deployed to the location in what remains an ongoing incident. We wish to reassure residents we are responding to the disorder incidents which have taken place, and that appropriate specialist public order resources are attending.
 
You know, sometimes I think I'm really quite intelligent. But it took me until about 5 minutes to ago to realise that by "agency workers" they meant like child protection/social services type people. I thought that the temp colleagues of the guy who's kids got taken off him had kicked it all off. Fucks sake.
 
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said in a statement on Thursday, “Officers attended and found an ongoing disturbance which involved some agency workers and some children. More people started to attend the location and a decision was made to remove the agency workers and the children to a safe place. A crowd started to gather and more officers were requested to attend the area, where some pockets of disorder were occurring.”

Agency workers were reacting/responding to reports and concerns raised by hospital staff who had treated one of the children earlier in the week.

Looking on Google Maps I think I may have driven through this area last year when driving to Roundhay Park
 
I just presumed someone had blocked the door at leeds local pub
 
Global cyber outage now impacting flights, trains, tv broadcasts and banking.
No cause given as of yet.
 
One of my friends has been stuck on a plane at Manchester airport for well over an hour now because of it.

Not noticed anything here all day, but then I suppose I haven't tried to make a payment or use an ATM

I've also been on ANZ and that's working too 🤷‍♀️ maybe we're just lucky.
 
On telstra for my internet and it has been fine all day, and not put the box on yet. Thankfully the cycling is on SBS rather than Channel 9. Does rule out watching friday night footie though.
 
Just done a telly check

ABC, SBS are fine. Channel 7 is sort of okay. Channels 9 and 10 completely dead.

3 channels? It's 1982 all over again :D
