They're bleeding the club because they're greedy cunts tbf, not because they're Chinese.
It's not even greed as such because they don't get to withdraw the money, and the sums involved for a PL club are so small as to mean that it doesn't have any wider impact on investment etc.

It's plain stupidity and not living in the real world, imagining that there's a land of milk and honey beyond the ordinary local people who've been ploughing their own money into the club for decades.

Why now though?

Why not when we were promoted or in Europe?

Why are they screwing the fans hard, but not selling every player that has any value?

I just don't understand the logic of all this - because there isn't any.

I think you've misunderstood.

It's not the Chinese way to admit an error. A bit Trumpian in that way.

You're right Fosun are just greedy twats which I wouldn't associate with the Chinese culture as a whole.

A rose by any other name?

The two go hand in hand for me but I get what you mean.

It seems like wantant destruction at this point.

Maybe they want to make as much profit as possible to take out at this point, but as @Deutsch Wolf says that would be minimal at most and would reduce the value of their asset to nothing.

If that is what they want I'd expect them to sell anyone we get a bid for, but that won't happen I'm sure.

But their behaviour here does suggest that.

It's odd.

Any statement along these lines:

- We're putting up prices by 5%, we recognise this is tough but we do very much value your support and look forward to a point in the near future where we can keep prices stable as the club's financial position settles down

- Although it is clear that we need to work on improving the squad, we will continue to focus on players in the £5-20m bracket as this is where we feel that we have historically done our best business, we recognise our failings in the past when we have gone beyond this mark

- Clearly we want to keep the best players here who have contributed heavily to the good moments across the last season, every player has his price and we must recognise our place in the wider footballing sphere, rest assured though that no-one will be forcing a move on unfavourable terms

- The Premier League is an incredibly difficult league, where any mistakes are punished and we recognise that there will be times with a young manager and squad that any inexperience may trip us up. However rest assured that we remain ambitious and challenging for European spots is well within our remit, we will do what we can to prepare the first team to achieve this aim

- Molineux is our home, we are very proud of it and will work over the summer to restore it to where it should be, regrettably there are areas of the ground that have fallen into disrepair which we recognise and apologise for, and will fix this as soon as we can

- Thank you once more for your incredible support with attendances very rarely dipping below the 30,000 mark, it is incredibly appreciated

Then you would get the 2021-2023 reaction. Some dissent, why are prices going up yet again, only going one way if you sell your best players, it's just PR saying "thanks for your support", I'll believe when I see it about prices stabilising, etc etc. But equally you'd get a 90%+ take up rate and broadly speaking anything negative would be the digital equivalent of chip paper today.

But no, completely hammer the fans in the wallet and come across like deluded pricks.

The money has to be going somewhere and it doesn't seem to be going into the club. I know people have said before that Fosun can't take money out of the club but something feels off regardless.

It’s a bit of a dilemma for me, I’ve signed the petition, I’m in the lucky position that I can afford to renew but I feel that I’m letting the side down by doing so.
I just can’t imagine not going to the match next season.

As I put in today's article, I'm not going to judge anyone who does go - your time, your money. With the exception of those vanishingly few who claim it's all fair enough and no-one should complain, do you want us to be like Everton or something do you, eh, eh.

I could afford it if I want to. I don't want to.

Dalrymple tempering Shi's worst excesses?

I mean I feel dirty even suggesting it but imagine Vinny Clark had the brief of getting the prices to these levels but just about understood it needed to be done gradually to avoid revolt and Shi grew inpatient. Wouldn't be the first time he's demonstrated he's a raging megalomaniac.

Its going where you would normally expect an owner to put it, nothing more sinister than that.

They want us to be self funding and after the Lopetegui window have properly gone down that route. We don't generate enough to cover our outgoings....owner isn't putting that in, so only one place to turn.

This isn't true.

Given half the strategy is to milk the asset, I'd welcome everyone here renewing as it stops the match day sales but then also turn up with protest flags or something impactful that you can get into the ground (or all walk out after a set number of minutes)

Sorry, I meant we don't generate enough to cover certain things. Whatever it is I don't think Fosun are finding ways to put money in their own pocket from us, not say like the dick that owned WBA. Their use for us right now is our badge/name as the look to keep the Government in Beijing happy with investments in eSports. Outside of that, no real interest so on our own, not going to chuck money at us and we having pissing idiot in charge that can't even see what is crumbling around him (in every aspect of crumbling).

Might change again if we have a Lage start to next season and they think "shit, we might get relegated and people in China don't follow the Football League" or we discover the Chinese Messi and their Government loves football again. The only thing really possible from that is the Lage start to the season.

So, really need someone who wants to throw money at football whilst holding around 25% of the ownership...don't think many of this type exist

One positive is seeing the E&S coming out against it. Wouldn't have expected that tbh. I guess they won't be getting any AI written columns in the near future. RIP

The whole thing is just completely and utterly ridiculous, and all this anger could have been so easily avoided.

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but actually, I'm just saddened by the whole thing.

For anyone who the idiots have priced out, then come along to Telford and support the women's First Team instead. It's not Molineux, and its amazing location and all the opportunities for the social element before the game, but it's the best way to still stay supporting the club, a manager and a team that genuinely care, whilst not having to spend basically £1000 a season.
Agree with this whilst also noting that Fosun's lack of ambition has also stifled them, which is why their results in third division appear to be going backwards when the players and manager themselves are of the same standard.

Havent they created their own shirt company? They could pay themselves that way. Money is going where it always goes, to the acolytes of Shi/Fosun and people like Mendes. Imagine the likes of Vinny and the Ticketing suits would have high bonuses linked to increase in revenue.

Naive question on my part, but if the club has cash reserves built up could Fosun effectively knock that off the asking price? "You can buy the club for n, but we're taking the cash with us"?

So the buyer pays Fosun 50m and then Fosun take 30m worth of cash out the club just before they sell? So Fosun effectively get 80m for selling and the buyer doesn't have to stump up quite as much (all hypothetical values ofc)
