Rugby League Thread

Having had a few holidays in NSW, Rugby League (the footy) is their equivalent of our Premier League.
Given that Rugby League in this country is predominantly set in the North I think we do very well, even if most teams have their fair share of Aussies.
The Aussies have a few Brits, Victor Radley being the MOTM for the Chooks today. The NRL also has a huge influx of Pacific islanders...

RL is predominately in NSW and QLD.

Strangely the Greater London area has a lot of amateur RL teams.

Lots of kiwi and Aussie ex-pats and ex-communicated northerners!

Strangely though Whitechapel born Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook has had a successful SL career, Lewisham born Kai Pierce-Paul is heading off to the Newcastle Knights, so the amateur game in the south unearths local talent.

Recently retired Tony Clubb sounds like he’s from the south too.

Yep, from Gravesend and played for the London Broncos.

Looks like Valentine Holmes is in a spot of strife!!

The Newcastle crowd is LOUD but the Raiders have been magnificent first half. Deserve their lead.

And quite the ten minutes by Newcastle. 18-16 ahead now. Make that 22-16!

Now 28-26 apiece and Canberra have a kick under the posts to level. What a game!

TBF when it gets to the finals, the games in the NRL tend to be far better than the weekly rounds stuff. Same with Super League.

Dom Young (from Dewsbury) was brilliant. 6'7" and runs like Usain Bolt.

Yeah, he had a good RLWC last year. Product of Huddersfield Giants Academy. First team debut at 17, played 2 games for the Giants and then signed a 3 year deal with the Knights. His brother plays for Newcastle Thunder in the RL Championsip and represents Jamaica.
