Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

I'm not sure what credit he's got in the bank. Won 1 game in eons, costantly picks some of the worst players to wear a Wolves shirt. Bizarre formations.
Poor game management.
Yes of course it was a tough job, we gave some appall8ng players but maybe use what you have got to get the best out of them.

This should be an audition as to how he’ll do in the Premier League in the unlikely event that we bounce back up. Let’s face it in the summer of 2027 we’re not going to see much of an uplift in quality of the squad so if he can’t manage anything close to being relegation form now, it’s not happening in 18 months time.
As for who else would have come in there’s plenty of unemployed managers who would have jumped at the chance without having to pay £4m for someone who’s not fit for purpose.

Now we know the penalty record of Tolu, coupled with that of Krejci there simply is no excuse for him either not knowing that or if he did ignoring it. It's incompetence, but I'm sure will be passed over by those that choose to like the person quoted above.
This. It is unforgivable. One thing we need is professionalism from senior management. This lost us the game.

We need to Paul Lambert him in the summer and hope we've got a new Nuno lined up to appoint. Unfortunately, I feel like we'll keep him until around November when we're languishing around lower mid table, and waste our first parachute season, putting all the pressure on season two.

Edwards has someone on penalties who, up until today, had missed his last three.

Why? Fucking why, Rob? When there are players with decent records out there.

That’s on Edwards. More incompetence. And it’s basics.

Another reason I don’t want him. He’s simply not up to the job.

I was thinking about this on the drive to work this morning. Krejci has scored 13 out of 15 penalties in his career. He had one season where he scored 8 out of 8 pens. You've also got Armstrong who has taken 30 odd penalties in his career and scored 25 of them. Yesterday would have been a perfect opportunity for Armstrong to get his first goal in a Wolves shirt. Why the fucking hell are we letting Tolu take it? He's now missed 50% of the penalties he's taken - this has to lie at Edwards' door.

I was also thinking about why RE decided to change the system and go to 4 at the back against... wait for it, CHELSEA - but hasn't bothered again since?

Why does he always wait so long to make substitutions? Why didn't he make a change before the 87th minute in the absolute mudpit v Grimsby? Why did he wait so long to bring someone like Joao Gomes on yesterday when we've ran ourselves into the ground with 10 players yesterday? He's so reactionary - never the one being proactive and trying to change the course of the game.

We are down. This season has been grim. And we have a manager setting up to try and draw every game 0-0.

Good teams find a way to win games when they don't play well. Bad teams find a way of losing games they shouldn't be losing. We're an extremely bad football team, with an extremely average manager in charge.

Exactly this.

Bloke is completely out of his depth, just like the last two managers that have gone before him.

Of course, we’re shit.

But this clown is making things worse - contrary to the bullshit I keep reading in the media.

Easy. The only player he probably trusted as an out and out RB is Doc.

Doc destroyed that trust in just 45 mins

Could play Mosq there and may do now Toti is returning but will be surprised if he does.

On the pens - its one of those things that seems obvious to us looking at the stats but for all we know, Tolu is the penalty king in training.

Doesn't matter, his track record in games is proven. Edwards has said he was the nominated penalty taker before the game, it wasn't one of those spur of the moment things. It's on him and is indefensible, even though I know you are playing devil's advocate.

I often think with team selections etc that are bewildering that it could be answered away with stuff that happens in training, or via conversations that we would never know about.

But the penalty thing just seems like pure incompetence.

We have two genuinely good penalty takers at the club in Krejci and and Armstrong. Yet Tolu is our designated taker!?

It's not as if we were witness to a conversation or argument prior to the penalty like sometimes happens.

Stuff like that just makes me think RE is amateur.

And then there are the long throws! Put of all the throws yesterday from Mosquera (and the length was better due to it being drier) we only flicked one on. It's a complete waste of time, we do nothing from it, it takes ages and we lose momentum. Fuck it off or mix it up!

100% doing that. I am with everyone else on this but you know me, I like to dig for reasons, how ever weak and shit they are.

Another weak thing to use is Rob has allowed his players to pass it to Tolu because a goal would help him.

Let's not forget that Hwang was on penalty duty when JSL was off the pitch and his record is a bit sketchy. I know he scored v West Ham but had missed a couple

Due diligence and in depth research would tell you Tolu should’ve been way down the pecking order. If you’re going on who was the most confident it’s an archaic strategy

The one defence of Edwards on this is no team should expect their one main striker to not be able to take and score a penalty. However I'm not making that defence personally, it was so obvious he wasn't scoring.

Quite telling is how everybody is sheeple with the long throws - Palace fans were getting fed up of their own pointless long throws in the second half and sarcastically cheered when they finally went short with one

I am all for doing something if it is effective, Arsenal have done exactly that this season, but we don't try anything out of the ordinary or inventive. We just wang it in and hope something comes off. It's shite.
