Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

Think he's been fairly lucky so far, we've aimed most anger at the board not him/players.

The first half last night was as bad as ive seen effort wise from some, didnt join in but could understand the few that booed halftime.

Now hes set himself up to deflect the stick from the board to himself, hope he gets plenty.

Took my 12 year old daughter to her 1st premier league match last night, she asked me at half time why i come every week, she said it was like watching year 7s playing year 11s at dinner time.

Wolves fans over the last 12 years are probably some of the most patient out there. Secondly the comment “the fans need to understand what we’re up against” firstly that’s extremely patronising as a lot of fans know full well what’s going on. Secondly it can be interpreted very differently by the players also which is poor man management.
Here’s a thing Rob you’ve not Ron a game in 7 matches it’s called dealing with pressure, if you were sacked to day not many would shed a tear.
I’ll give him a target if he can’t get us past 20 points then if I was in charge he would gone in May.

He's cracking up.

Saw it start with the Dyche comments last week and it's continued since. Couple it with going 5atb v Forest, then 4atb against a top four challenger followed by 5-5-0 with no plan to retain possession yesterday.

No sympathy. He knew what he were up against when he took the job.

8 points in his 17 games and the last two have been pretty fortuitous. Edwards needs to look in the mirror rather than make digs at the fans that have endured some bloody awful performances.

Just watched it, stunning lack of awareness. The positives are because if him, but the negatives are not it would appear.

Very selective with his facts. "Only" 3 defeats in 11, also only 3 wins in that and 2 of those against League 2 sides. 1 PL win in 16 games, none in 7.

Fans have been very patient with him, recognising the relegation isn't on him. Negativity has been aimed at those above him and individual players he didn't sign, 1 of which wasn't trying and the other 2 are unbelievably shit, but he keeps selecting them. All whilst paying prices 'benchmarked' against teams in the Top 6.

Wrong battle to pick and in the long run, not one you'll win.

Here is the interview

Although I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as I expected it to be, it's still a daft thing to say. Just leave the fans out of it, Rob - we're fed up, it's been a shocking season.

So easy to avoid any of this by just not going there in the first place. Silly.

Agreed. It's not that bad, and the interviewer pushes it to make it more (which is his job).

Really silly for RE to mention it though, as the reaction is never going to be good.

He pushed it, but he didn’t lead him, he went there of his own accord, the question was set up for a fans platitude. It's something he wanted to say.

Fans “ need to realise what we’re up against “. I’ll trump that with “Edwards needs to realise what a shit show we’ve endured including just one win in the PL under him”.

The only reason there's such a stark chasm now between us and clubs like Arsenal is because of the years of mismanagement, hubris and mediocrity, and Edwards is a small part of this too.

There was a time in recent memory when it didn't matter 'what we were up against' and we had a proper team

Simon Jordan just pretty much echoed what we’ve all said on talkshite, then they get 2 callers defending RE come on fuck off you happy clapping low standard arseholes.

The notion that fans who have paid the thick end of a grand to watch the shite we've been served up all season long should be criticised for not showing enough support is honestly outrageous.

Just who the fuck does he think he is?

There's plenty of Wolves supporters who criticise match going fans too, at least Rob was there.

I dont think anyone would argue with the idea that a supportive crowd helps the team, and a pissed off crowd hinders them. But its fucking stupid, after the season we've had, to not realise that the crowd being pissed off is a symptom, not a cause.

So yeah, it'd be great if the crowd were more supportive, but thats about tenth in the list of things that could be better right now.

We have a song repertoire I can count on about three fingers. There’s been a massive demographic shift around me in the South Bank. More folk checking their fantasy football teams during them game than either vocally supporting the actual team on the pitch, or calling out Tchatchoua for the shite footballer he is.
