Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

He probably shouldnt have said anything, but i dont think what he did say is particularly inflammatory or, more importantly, untrue.
I'm the first to have a go at our fans (the South Bank basically) when they're being cunts.

I think they've been more than fair in what will statistically go down as one of our worst ever seasons in nearly 140 years of football, and having ANY kind of go is misguided at very best, especially given how the ex-chairman treated us.

If Rob wants some acclaim then he can win some games. That's plural, Rob. Not one. And League Two teams don't count. That's how it works.

Yep shouldn’t have said anything, his comments aren’t as to the point as say MM rant on numerous occasions.
However they come across a bit patronising and passive aggressive.
People aren’t stupid and will see straight through it.
I’d advise he doesn’t persist on this route like MM did because the fans will always win as they don’t go anywhere whereas he’s disposable.
He’s doing it with no credit in the bank either, and telling fans to get behind the team after they’ve seen 1 league win in 10 months is lets say unrealistic.
The fans have been beyond patient they’ve not turned on him a lot quicker as they would do at a lot of other clubs.

Like I said last week I think the fans are still being pretty tolerable. There’s not even any dissent for the continually shite long throw in after shite long throw in.

I’ve now actually seen the interview rather than read the transcript and yes the tone doesn’t help which makes it sound worse. So yes he’s been a bit silly really

He started with a team that couldn’t get out of its own half, he picks a RB that looks like a competition winner, he’s had one PL win since he arrived yet the problem is the fans not backing the team. Hmmm…

Stupid from Edwards. Not helped by the Sky interviewer continually pushing him for more detail.

That’s true. I expected it to get nasty after conceding so early last night but there was just apathy.

Even Jackson going off was greeted with laughter more than anything else.

I'm not too sure what Edwards is expecting from the fan base?

We went behind within five minutes to the top of the table, fans would be fully expecting another rinsing.

Weather wasn't great, especially for those in the golf stand, so it's a bit much calling supporters out in any form

This has been a wretched season, that supporters still drag themselves there in the first instance should be applauded in itself.

I think people were genuinely shocked he ran off the pitch in the right direction
Rob Edwards barking at him “FORWARDS” everytime he got the ball on the wing only for him to usually turn and pass it back to midfield was equally funny and annoying.

I think I was doing the same, the crazy thing is his sideways/backwards passes were often misplaced and we just ended up losing the ball closer to our goal.

Fans are usually beyond reproach, in my opinion. They give up their time and a large percentage of their money to watch their team — all of whom are millionaires off the back of a single contract. They’d be the ones buying kit and looking for a pitch to play on if we went out of business today — not Shi, not Edwards, not Tchatchoua. If you don’t like what the crowd are doing, improve your performance and lift them.

Furthermore, I’d say our fans are particularly shy to criticise compared to others. To come after them THIS SEASON, after one (1) win, is hilarious.

If he's ignoring instructions from Edwards on the pitch, why the fuck is he picking him and more importantly not dragging him off much earlier? Its a worrying trait from a mamager.
I'm at the stage where I don't think we'll be close to the relegation zone next season but have doubts about our ability to maintain a push for automatic promotion which is crazy given our size and spending power compared to other clubs.

If you go after the fans you basically need results ASAP because you’ve just handed them every bit of ammunition they need to exert real pressure on you.
MM did this post Swansea in 2011 and backed it up by losing 3/4 in his next games.
He was gone less than 4 months later and probably should’ve been sacked after that performance.

Fans “ need to realise what we’re up against “. I’ll trump that with “Edwards needs to realise what a shit show we’ve endured including just one win in the PL under him”.
Yeah. Let's have it right - we are spectacularly shit this season. Like almost off the scale bad.

He's lucky that the next home game is Villa. People will be more focused on the game in front of them than the situation we're in or what's been said before.

I realise what we’re up against: this smug tit and the carte blanche he has until we’re losing at Lincoln.
