Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

I have tried to keep away from the official club stuff still, however the amount of people already fooled by this on that video and saying things like "If we do go down we will still be behind you." Etc is gailing. Already been hoodwinked into thinking its ultimately something to accept, rather than be livid about how we have gotten here.

Just got home and read the last few pages of this post………

Found myself laughing out loud.

Fuck me - how have we accumulated such a fucking awful bunch of players in such an amazingly short space of time?

It’s fucking mind blowing.

When you're bereft of actual quality like we are then to be competitive you have to find a different way to compete.

You can make sure your team is supremely fit and out work and out compete other teams by running and pressing all game long. We don't and can't do that, our players look knackered after 20 minutes.

You can have attacking players who are fast so as a team you can defend in numbers and hit teams with fast counter-attacking football. We don't and can't do that, we look slower than molasses in our attacking play.

Or you can be big, strong, and physical and impose your will on teams by out muscling them in one on one battles and at set pieces. We don't and can't do that. Sometimes I wonder if our players have ever done anything remotely resembling strength training.

So we don't and can't play in alternative ways to compete, so it will be very interesting to see what RE comes up with as a way of playing. I'm pretty sure whatever it is won't work. We are just shit.

It already has!

11 games in (ELEVEN) and everyone has given up on the season, fans, players, Shi.

It's bullshit.

Sorry to come back to this late; I agree it's unforgivable if players and the likes of Shi have thrown in the towel, but it's perfectly understandable for fans to consider us dead men walking.

Don't you?

Pereira had the money and blew it on rubbish. He seems to be getting a bit of a free pass. All the BS about creating an identity.
Well he certainly created one, it's not a good one.

He only just about spent what we made on transfers though, hardly like he had a Lop style 'ambitious' spree?

Having said that, him and Teti can't escape a huge chunk of the blame for this. We know all about Shi, but they had a fairly free rein and filled our squad with almost entirely utter shit. So frustrating when it was the same window we finally got rid of Fabio and Guedes too...

They did seem to miss out on a fair few first choice targets, I imagine the blame for that can be spread around. Shi, for one, has hardly made us an attractive proposition, the dense fucker.

Although, given how dreadful VP and Teti's player judgement seems to be, not sure their first choices would have been up to much either (Uche hardly pulled up any trees at Palace, for one)

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to think we are all but down barring a major miracle but i do think we have a part to play. We can be angry about everything and rightly so and Shi with Fosun can’t be allowed to get away with this no matter what happens but over the next 6-8 games we have to get behind Edwards and the team with a hope that something crazy happens. Fans have to dig deep and find something and create that atmosphere including the anti Fosun stuff too.

We can’t as fans just let apathy take over, home, away it has to be loud in whatever way is needed and we need to make noise. I think fans have to separate Fosun and Wolves, they may have the money behind the club at the moment but they aren’t Wolverhampton Wanderers and never will be. The ex players, managers who gave so much and us the fans are the club, sounds a bit cringe but it’s true because they don’t love the club like the 99% of people that are on here and that attend games do because look at the time we spend assessing everything about the club.

I’m far from happy with everything, the fact we’ve had to appoint Rob Edwards in the Premier League is absolutely appalling but i’m not letting Jeff and Fosun destroy my connection with the club and so i think everyone needs to throw everything behind the lads over the next few months in blind faith and hope. I know Lycan said when we inevitably concede first against Palace the place will be toxic and i think he’s probably right but that just won’t help one bit and it’s essentially self sabotage.

I love Wolves, I'm going to follow them through whatever shit this regime throws at the club and that will never change...but yeah, the performative sycophantry in the name of fandom is baffling.

Like, it doesn't negate you as a fan if you call a spade a spade, don't clap for everything. It doesn't make all of you're following a waste of time either, like some perverse gambler's fallacy that people have to cling onto.

Acknowledge its a minority of rusted on bollards, but it's a malaise across all fandoms imo, and it allows a free pass when ownerships and leaders fail repeatedly like we're seeing with Fosun and Shi.

Wait a God damn minute

Edwards is the one who wanted Adilson Malanda at Boro. That means that there’s an actual (tiny) possibility that the first ex-CLT player to sign for Wolves might be soon!

We could sure use another CB, at any rate.

And the worst part is that as rubbish as they both are, there is an argument that they're actually at worst on par with their replacements from the summer.

Tolu over Silva, yes, but otherwise? Right now, Arias or Guedes is much of a muchness. And that's incredibly damning.

Guedes with 2 goals and 4 assists in 987 Premier League mins in 24/25

Arias with 0 goals and 0 assists in 549 mins so far.

Guedes was an absolute disgrace of a footballer. I'd play current day Tim Steele over him.

Arias was the Cunha replacement not Guedes
Mmm, both left this summer, both are attacking midfielders. Tomato, tomato. But the point stands, Guedes, as awful he was and how terrible an attitude he has, is no worse than Arias has shown so far.

I appreciate that everyone (including me) hates Guedes, but how the hell have we managed a seeming downgrade from there?
