Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

Not wishing to labour a point, but these are some of the quotes from that 20 mins or so against Bournemouth in the match thread:

Great first pass lol

What the fuck was that!!!

Jesus, Jackson looks unbelievably raw. Fuck me.

Jackson so far has:

Kicked the ball to no one
Been put on his arse
Kicked it out of play
Crossed it behind everyone when in a really good position

Tchatchoua has something of Adama Traoré about him. Athletic (apparently), but not a footballer at first blush.

What the fuck is Jackson on crack

omfg! Could Tchatchoua play any worse? I instantly dislike him. Which is ok, because he'll go and score now and make me sound like a poor judge of playing ability.

Reminds me of that guy who Souness signed for Southampton.

This is the worst debut since Neil Emblen v Reading.

Yep looks more of a headless chicken than MM

I fucking love Jackson. Not least because he's going to drive some of you absolutely mental over the next nine months.

He looks like an MLS player lol

I think Jackson proper fucked with everyone's heads after he came on.

Sound like the reviews of an episode of Mrs Browns Boys
I hate Mrs Browns Boys with an absolute passion. Its the worst TV show I've ever had the misfortune to see. If it clashed with a Wolves game tomorrow I'd be torn as to what to have on in the background while I did something interesting.

Definitely.

His debut at Bournemouth was the worst I've ever seen from a Wolves player in my life, that first half!!!

He has improved since then, but he has no positional or defensive awareness at all, and the one attribute he does have, he doesn't have the confidence to use.

If we had a really solid RCB and we could coach him and he would be receptive to it, then there  could be a functional player for us in a 5. But there are too many ifs.

12million quid, when we could have just got KWP on a free and helped our HG issue, moronic.
I'm with you but remember the EGG?. Wasn't his debut at Birmingham? He was heralded as special and I thought, hang on a minute, I've played with better in the Wolverhampton Sunday League.

Was the Egg heralded as special? That was the January transfer window where we basically just gave up and accepted our fate (round 2 coming up).

Maybe not but as usual the E&S talked him up as an Icelandic international and IIRC they were relatively good at the time. Anyway I am sure we'll agree that he was totally out of his depth and not just in that game.

I think he won MOTM on his debut (in a truly awful game).

He was miles off the quality required as a Premier League team and a baffling signing (why even bother) but definitely not a terrible debut.

I'm not sure he's even that quick! It looks to me like one of those weird stats where someone like Ashley Williams (maybe not him, but similar) came top of the speed charts in the PL one year, clearly he wasn't the fastest player in the league. He looks appreciably slower than 32 year old Nelson Semedo to me.

He is better than Hoever or Doherty though. What a mess.

And I'll raise you Neil Emblen's debut :D Or Marlon Harewood's.
He is fast (top speed), just only in straight lines in open space, without the ball. Which isn’t actually that useful if it takes you 10 yards to get up to speed.

Usain Bolt wouldn’t have won any/many 40m dashes but his top speed blew people away and he storms clear. Tchatchoua is similar. Sadly he can’t run with the ball because he’s rubbish at football so pace is negated there and he a second slower in his head than everyone else so negated there also.

I'll take your encyclopaedic memory for reality over my memory!

I agree Tolu and especially Krejci look decent.
Lopez looks way out of his depth to me, no-where near given what we paid.
Mosquera I think still might be ok. I haven't given up on Agbadou getting last seasons form back but thats hope more than anything
I'd like to see Wolfe given more games, dont think he's as bad as people say, I expect he'll be fine in the Championship.
Arias is the biggest disappointment, I know he had a long season before arriving and the Premier league can be tough to acclimatise but I've seen very little to impress after a big fanfare.
Jhon I think is suffering by way of not really having a position in the English tactical paradigm. He’s not a winger but also not really a CM; he’s kinda halfway between a #10 and an #8 and that’s simply not a role that’s in fashion at the mo.

He’s a really good player but we might never see it here.
