Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

I can love the club AND be highly critical of how it's being run and the direction of travel...I just can't get on board with this appointment... reeks of mediocrity and acceptance.
I would say Lage and O'Neil were far more indicative of that.

Lage replacing the most successful (and most liked) manager of many of our lifetimes. He had virtually nothing on his CV, couldn't speak English, absolutely no presence whatsoever, that's an immediate massive obvious downgrade of our own making. Could have walked down Waterloo Road a fortnight before he was appointed and he wouldn't have been recognised by a single soul.

O'Neil directly replacing a former Spain and Real Madrid manager, with less than a season of management on his CV. Had you asked any Wolves fan to name 20 realistic candidates to replace Lopetegui, I doubt he'd have featured on many lists.

At very least Edwards was always someone you thought we were likely to approach, he has links to the club and at least notionally, it makes some sense for a club at the bottom of the Premier League to appoint someone who is doing well in the division below.

I'm glass half empty rather than glass totally empty.
Hope he improves things this season and does well next season to bring us straight back up.
Anything better than that and he will deserve a statue outside in years to come.

It was more a joke about the direction the club was heading in that we’d inevitably appoint him one day rather than anyone thinking it was a good idea.

I hope he’s here for a good while and eventually chosen by Man City as the man to take over from Pep. I was certainly wrong about McGhee and Hoddle, but lately it hasn’t been rocket science predicting incoming managers won’t do well. I’d love to be proven wrong this time.

I was highly critical of both of those too!!

Lots of waffle from the senior inadequates already at the club about Edwards bringing in new tactics, identity, ideas, philosophy and culture.

I'd love to know specifically what that all actually meant, my guess is a load of fucking flannel

He's probably the best-looking gaffer we've ever had, if that counts for anything.

If he can at least give us some pride then he deserves a crack at next season.

Harsh on flannel!

Culture runs top-down, so IMV Shi’s toxicity will be a staple of our culture until he’s gone. Managers can try to balance it but that’s nearly impossible when the poison is also your boss.

What do you think is a reasonable points total to achieve to deserve to stay? Beating Derby’s record, 15, 20?

Hard to put a number on it, but if he can get a tune out of this group of players then he's got something about him.
The odd thing about VP this season is the two best performances were against Spurs and Brighton and we could easily have won both so whilst we all know the squad is awful there is still something to work with. I’d like to think we end up nearer to 20 than 10 points.

Jeff Shi says Rob Edwards will be a key part of a "new chapter" at Wolves following his appointment as head coach.

Hopefully it's the epilogue for Shi...

I see Lescott and Coady have been mooted as (unlikely) additions to Edward's staff, as Shi tries to offer as many sops to the fans as possible.

Cynical little turd
Its clearly a cynical move from Shi.

However I do think we'd benefit from having Coady around the club, the fans and the players.

We could have had Carrick for free. Either of them would probably be sacked by this time next year anyway.
Fully agree with this, carrick a genuine and honest bloke. I’m really not sure on Edwards, think Boro have had our pants down. I’ll give him my full support…until someone else with a comfier bed comes knocking 😂
