Rio 2016

So many rule changes from when I played in the 70s & 80s - you were not allowed to do that in those days

We only played it a few times at school but I couldn't remember any of that either, just wasn't sure if that was down to teachers not enlightening us to something that could lead to many injuries or us just being too shit to execute it anyway.

Like that you're allowed to go balls out and ditch your keeper if you want to throw the kitchen sink at it, just make sure not to play any slack passes across the front of your open goal whilst you're at it, unlucky Belgium.

No, not your teachers not letting you try - you didn't used to be alowed to put it over waist height.

Then again we used to have a 2m line down the side & when the ball went out you had to throw it back in past that to a team member for it to be back in play rather than just use your stick to bring it on again.

Belgium took a chance at the end, which they had to do - didn't work this time.

Andy Murray beats Kevin Anderson to reach Cincinnati quarter-finals and record 600th ATP tour win. Thats a great win when you consider how knackered he was after the Olympic final.

Of the 30 fastest 100m times, 21 are by athletes who've tested positive for drugs.

The other 9 are all Usain Bolt..

To put that into a little perspective - the remaining times are not by a myriad of other runners. It is Gatlin, Gay, Powell, and Blake.

Great heat from Liam Heath in the kayak 200m. Taking it pretty easy from 75m out. Plenty more to come.

Unless I missed something Yohan Blake has never tested positive or even been linked to anything particularly untoward.

From Wiki

Prior to the 2009 World Championships, Blake (along with Marvin Anderson and Sheri-Ann Brooks) tested positive for the stimulant 4-methyl-2-hexanamine.[19][20] A disciplinary panel organised by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) cleared him of a doping infraction on the grounds that the drug was not on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list. However, JADCO appealed their own panel's ruling, stating that the athlete should be disciplined as the drug was similar in structure to the banned substance tuaminoheptane.[21] As the panel would resolve the issue after the World Championships, the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association took the precaution of withdrawing Blake from the relay race.[22] The appeals tribunal decided that a ban would be appropriate, and Blake and the three other sprinters each received a three-month ban from competition.[23]

One to go to knock us off gold in the show jumping.

Joe Joyce - superheavyweight - into the final & a guaranteed min of Silver

Having seen both that & the other semi he should win Gold - constant forward movement & punching. The Khazak boxer was only just still standing by the end

1 - 1 early in the second quarter

GB mistake & a very quick break by the Netherlands

Plus GB one down for 2 mins now with a sin bin offence

The Dutch showing why they are the best team in the world, though GB keeper is the WOTM so far - saved us a number of times already

Fuck. Maddie Hinch is the best goalie in the world atm, but can't keep that out.
