Relegation 24/25 Thread

I have felt throughout that our squad is better than relegation fodder (even if it is unbalanced) and today illustrated they are capable of far better than 1 point from 8 games. Hope to God they start to achieve it soon

I think you pick up between 15-20 points playing like we did today in a season. You just won’t win enough plus any team of decent quality will find holes to exploit.
In regards effort endeavour and character that was improved and they didn’t collapse after conceding the equaliser.

No chance, you'll pick up 1 maybe 2 as playing against Palace, Soton or Ipswich and we'll lose like we did against City today.

It's not a plan that works against other teams that don't go full tilt at you from minute 1.

I don't mind playing 3-4-3 as we can make that work in possession or on the counter but not with this twat in the dugout.

I think you’d get a few shithousing 1-0 and some dull draws to bump you up to that points total. If your aim is to avoid being Derby esque then go ahead but it’ll get you relegated pre Easter Sunday.

Could do without Palace winning tonight, victory for them would leave us minimum 2 wins from moving out the bottom 3

This is in no way a defence of GON, but after Saturday we will have played 8 of the top 9 from 9 games which is quite remarkable really. Unfortunately we let in 5 to the other one

I still think we will stay up. There is a team that hasn't won a game yet that will survive, may as well be us.

We might but it’s coming very soon, the policy seems to have become offload your best player and replace them with unproven players at a cheaper price. Cunha and probably RAN will go in the summer.
What you’d hope is the close shave this year will force them to re-evaluate their policy but I don’t hold my breath. It’ll be down to every other factor apart from their own fuck ups.

I think we’ll know one way or another by the end of November, massive month for O’Neill.

I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re just sat on premier league death row and our turn is a matter of time. Stay up this season great but it’s just a re-occurring theme, unless something changes dramatically.

I don't think the gap between the PL and Championship has even been greater. It's difficult to see a side getting promoted and being anything other than relegation candidates, even if they have the money PSR become a barrier, but I agree it's when not if. 75% chance this year you'd say as unless anyone fails their accounts audit it looks 3 from 4 already.

To stay up as an established (!) PL team all you probably need to do is finish above one other existing PL team. Even if you don’t there’s a good chance of survival. That’s what makes the clusterfuck unfolding before our eyes so infuriating.

PL table starting to look seriously worrying. If Palace gets a surprise result against Spurs today then we'll be right in it. So much pressure on this next run of games.

Yep we’re what you call adrift if they win today, we need to win all our home games between now and Xmas (palace, Saints, Bournemouth & Ipswich) to stand any chance.
I think we’ll win 2 draw 1 lose 1 and might pick up a couple of away points. Would put us on 11 going into Xmas.

To add I think only Leicester will get dragged back down into the mess. It’ll be 3 from 5 Leicester, Ipswich, Palace, wolves & Saints are the crapiest out the lot.

Screenshot_20241027_125040_BBC iPlayer.jpgSo, match of the day put up our next 8 fixtures yesterday and if you consider the two after are Man Utd and Spurs, these games take us all the way up to the half way point of the season. To be on a point a game, we essentially need 17 points from this run. You could argue 15 points is still only just surviving form.

That said, I only see about 12 points there in those 8 games and that's assuming the players basically just use their talent over any instructions from the manager.

How many points do others think we fluke from the above? And where does GON get the boot? I worry it may not be until after the Bournemouth game.

We are currently on the longest winless streak in our PL history following yesterday's draw.

Predicting any sort of double digit points haul under this idiot seems fanciful at best.
