Sheffield for,Europe:
Billionaire industrialist and Brexit fanatic sir Jim Ratcliffe has recognised the failure of his pet project- and joined the “Brexit has failed because of how it was carried out” school of thinking, rather than accepting that the whole idea of abandoning the country’s biggest trading partners was inherently flawed.
He is highly critical of the deindustrialisation of the UK which he rightly says is hurting the north of England most, yet chose to build his new Grenadier range of 4x4 cars in the European Union, in France, inside the single market and customs union, in the eurozone and Schengen and apparently can’t see the hypocrisy in what he has done. The cars were originally scheduled to built in south Wales but plans changed as the UK left the EU.
He apparently welcomes a change of government with Keir Starmer, which suggests to us that he doesn’t actually believe it will be a proper change of government, just swapping one lot of pro Brexit policies for another set of pro Brexit policies
