Notts Forest 0-0 Wolves 11/2 How did we get a point verdict thread.

What his role going forward? I don't even know what position is meant to suit him. He's not going to be happy to be an impact sub in the Championship surely.
Like everyone else on the books bar Armstrong, I wouldn't say it's a given he'll be here. If he is and they want him to play wing back then they need to get him on the weights. Ryan Giles is playing for the team that's 4th in the league at LWB so it's not a high bar, he has the energy, but he can't be as lightweight as he is. I can't see him starting anywhere else even in the Championship

The players responded to his words at HT at least....
Do people genuinely like this performative nonsense of hamming it up in front of the away fans? I know it matters to some, so maybe I’m alone in wishing he’d just fck off down the tunnel rather than indulge in this ‘look at me’ spectacle. Guess they all do it now.

Lose/Lose situation.

Do the hamming it up and get shit because we are shit or walk down the tunnel and get abuse for not caring and showing appreciation to those that took time out of their lives and a huge chunk of money to watch how shit we are.

Remember Little Liam whipping everyone up when GO and some players ignored the fans at FT

That's why Shi I brought him in, isn't it?

He's a mollifier, 'one of us', meant to help us swallow the pain of mismanagement and embarrassing relegation and quieten the protests and unrest.

Last bit of Shi I's plan seems to have worked?

How very Edwards.

There's a third option you missed though; acknowledge the fans proportionately without the grand gesturing and then fuck off down the tunnel
Lose/lose/lose situation. Keep going and we, like Edwards, may find that 1 win.

"Half arsed gesture to try and keep us happy. Better if he just fucked off down the tunnel"

I blame Klopp for all this FT bollocks after he celebrated a draw v WBA in front of the Kop

Social media rarely reflects the match going fan where Wolves are concerned, but scrolling through Twitter this morning he was getting loads more stick ironically for a draw than any of the defeats. Many more questioning his position than the counter 'look what he's like got to work with' argument.

The 'one of our own' stuff will never wash outside of the usual Dazzling suspects. He spent more time on the bench or injured than playing when he was here, there's no great bond and most can see he came for financial and family reasons, not some labour of love. He grew up a Villa fan anyway.

Yep. Seems zero threat in the attacking third, I can’t ever remember his trying to beat his FB like a winger. He also is categorically not a defender. Does he have decent delivery? Fuck knows as he never beats a guy or crosses from deep.

I was really impressed with him in the cup game against Bristol City. Seemed really intelligent with the outside in runs behind the FB. Genuinely never seen him succeed at that again. I can only assume it’s because he was up against some clogger.

Think our only hope is turning him into some attacking RB as I’m just not seeing him as a forward and the managers must agree as no one has played him there since he joined despite our total lack of options there

If spending the evening watching the match wasn’t enough, I thought I’d have a look at the managers comments this morning to see what he had to say. Wish I hadn’t.

All smug and having a laugh with the pundits/presenters on TNT sport after the game. Absolute waffle.

Hate to say it but I’m getting very bored very quickly of our saviour Rob. If anyone genuinely thinks he’s the man to have us bounce straight back up, I’ll have some of whatever you’re drinking.

He was an Everton fan

He was a cosy club Jeff appointment, was always going to get a gig here at some point.

Managerial equivalent of Hobbs and Doc on the golf course, all chummy and convenient and no actual process

I've not got strong feelings either way towards Edwards, I'm sure there will be better coaches out there at the end of this season who would make a better fit for us, but I have sympathy for any mug who has to work with this bunch of complete chancers. That's not giving him a free pass but fucking hell, so many of these players are fucking awful. I would be interested to see just what he can do with a more balanced squad who actually want to play for Wolves.

Whilst I couldn't work out what we were even trying to do last night as there was zero discernible game plan, the amount of appalling stray passes, mindless punts up field to no-one was absolutely infuriating. I've genuinely seen better possession at a Stourbridge match.

I've never paid attention to what coaches say before and after games TBH and I'm not going to start now. But I can't see anyone other than Edwards in charge in August, and make no mistake, we're going to have to start bloody well or it will become toxic.

A lot of my Wolves mates are sticking to the "he's been dealt a bad hand" shtick.

There were hardly any signs last night that RE would do any better with decent/motivated players.

We know it’s a bad hand but I’m sure there are plenty of managers that would play the cards we’ve got more effectively.

Just watched the highlights again.

On the last minute break, I have no idea why Joao plays it to Tolu. If he just carries that down the middle then we’ve got the 4 v 1 on milenkovic and he can play it either way with a clearer shot at goal. Tolu’s pass is actually as perfect as it can be given the situation

Edwards is just an indefinite caretaker while Fosun sort their shit out behind the scenes. Jeff apparently knew he was being moved on for months before it actually happened, everything about his appointment reminds me of when we got Lambert after the Zenga debacle.

If he managed to pull off some kind of recovery, great, but otherwise his job is to keep things steady until the summer until the actual plan goes into effect (whatever the fuck that's going to be). His best case scenario is pulling off a kind of recovery that shows he might be worth keeping in the Championship - and that was clearly the gamble he wanted to take by coming here - but I'm very much not expecting him to be our manager come the start of next season. (Not that I expect Fosun to necessarily find someone better.)

Wish I had your optimism.
