There's nothing quite like that silence though. When it's observed impeccably and you hear traffic, birds singing etc - it's so much more poignant.

I get why they do applause though and it's a shame some folk can't be quiet for a minute, pissed or not

Originally it wasn't. With Geordie it was as a mark of appreciation and we were the first to do it.

I would say it depends on who pops off. I remember when Billy Wright (my Grandad's hero) died and we played vs Tranmere, they brought out the floral shirts, we had the silence, I was in buckets. Maybe applause would have been better to recognise what he did for the club.
Molineux is normally perfect on a minutes silence (or 90 mins if we are shit). Carl Hoddle of all people had a minutes silence and that was greatly observed

I remember the day that Billy Wright died we were away at Sunderland, at Roker Park, and a large contingent of Sunderland fans sang and chanted throughout the minutes silence. I've never really forgiven them for that.

Yep,or the first Albion away match where they sang about him being dead to the "Ian Wright Wright Wright" chant...they also made a banner for us that day advertising our lowest crowd...

Have to put this up again to show us what we can do - really don't get tired of watching this

I do not get fed up.of watching that i get goose bumps all through it.
Just wish I was back down south now seeing it all, I.am so jealous of you guys that get to go every week.

Weather looks like it's going to be brutal today, already snowing in Stafford. Going to have to dig the thermals out.

Snowing pretty heavy here now as well although it’s not that cold. Stood outside work waiting for the sarnies to be delivered and it was actually quite warm compared to what it has been. Shouldn’t be too bad, just hope it doesn’t blow through the side of the fucking North Bank.

Strongest 11, IMO.

Subs: Norris, Batth, Costa, Mir, MGW, N'Diaye, Miranda

Hause and Bright left out as Nuno makes 9 changes from Wednesday.
