Nottingham Forest (A) 11/2: Build-Up & Match Thread

Oh, please let us beat these and drop them firmly into the shit.

I don't want much for the rest of the season, but I do want that.

Never managed to play a game for Forest so this is as close as you'll get, him turning out for their U23s.

Also he's 32 now, if you fancy wondering where the hell time has gone.

It's incredible how he looked like a world beater for about 5 games, then looked like a carpet beater after that. And absolutely nothing since those five games too. Other than Tongo Doumbia, I can't think of another player with such a huge and clear drop-off who never showed anything again after that initial patch.

And I've long given up about wondering where the hell time has gone - the Sheff W penalties game mentioned the other day did that.

Alan Hinton really struggled with the concept of crossing his arms.

Dick le Flem is an outstanding name. No need to ask what his porn name would be

Probably Richard le Flem, as it's the longer form of Dick.

Scored the winner for Villa in the 1982 European Cup Final against Bayern Munich
Shouldn’t that be scored the winner for 1982FC, and they haven’t let anyone forget it since.

Paul Blades maybe. Looked genuinely good on loan.

I'll leave @Langers to discuss the rest of his time here.

Alan Neilson
Guy Whittingham (1st loan)
Mark Walters

Top two were brilliant on loan, Walters was 7/10, none of them signed.

Alternatively

Thetis
Coleman
Wheater

All appallingly bad loan signings who were shite.

That wasn't the question :D

You could fill numerous XIs with shit loans.

Michael Branch looked very good on loan.
I never thought Branch was shit, he had plenty of good games in 1999/00 and 2000/01 when he was ours (never prolific of course) and then he fell out with Dave Jones (DJ being a knob, whatever next)

I've had a few (emphasis on few) highlights during my matchday Wolves supporting life...but that game at home against Forest with Akinbiyi being sent off ( Forest having two sent off in Vaughan and Prutton) and Branch scoring THAT goal and being chased by Beasant is one of the highlights!!!

A game that had pretty much everything!

This is where Deutsch corrects everything and I'm left to contemplate my feeble recall...

Good chance that it was Branch rather than Jones being a nob?

Controversial one. I thought the loan version of Kenny Miller was the best we saw. Obviously, still good afterwards, just didn't think he reached quite the same level as those first few games before the collarbone
