They're not mutually exclusive, until the goal we were fine.

We should have had a penalty and the free kick they scored from clearly wasn't a foul.

Agreed. It was fair enough IMO as he's hooked his legs away from behind even if he did get the ball.

It'd just be nice to get some consistency. Refs seemingly can't wait to wave it away whenever we get clattered or fouled.

Thing is, I can see why the ref doesn’t give the penalty. He’s at the other end of the pitch. With VAR he would just expect it to be overturned if it is. For me, it’s probably a pen, but I’m still not certain. Raul doesn’t even need to do it.

Regarding there goal, I’d say it’s likely a foul. A soft foul which sometime aren’t given, but hardly a shambolic call by the ref.

We can moan about the ref. But that’s is t why we’re 1 down, more the inept performance
