New - The things that really annoy you

I don't live in Guernsey...
No, sure, I didn’t think you did.

I’d imagine no one knew that Specsavers were registered in a tax haven either.

Given the very topical subject (especially on here) of tax evasion and the horror with which it is viewed, I wonder if anyone will put their money where their mouth is now they know and not use Specsavers anymore.

I’d hazard a guess it’s somewhere between zero and none.

Specsavers Optical Superstores are registered in the UK.

Optical Group and Hearcare Group registered in Guernsey.

I don't use Specsavers btw...

A vast number of UK pension schemes or other trust companies for share option schemes will also be registered in Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man or other tax efficient domiciles. This is not new news.

How shortsighted 😆

Royal Mail being shit, I had a cash machine eat my card, got a new one sent out on the 18th March, bank said 3-5 working days for it to arrive.
It turned up this morning.

I assume the post everywhere is shit atm. They're prioritising parcels so mail gets shoved back, loads of people locally getting post 3 weeks late.

Yep, i've had issues waiting for documents that should take 2 or 3 days taking 2 or 3 weeks.

Then you get 8 letters all of a sudden, and then nothing for another 2 weeks.

Same in Bridgnorth. We seem to get a post dump about once a week/10 days or something. My parents have almost missed some important medical appointments because of it

Yeah. Been wondering if this will impact postal voting. I still haven't had my info through yet. Its usually here a fair bit more than 2 weeks prior to polling day.

Would have thought that would be prioritised. Suspect any govt or official stuff would sidestep the current system.

Yes..it should do.

You'd think Tax and DVLA documents would get fast tracked too, they don't.
Yeah I was having a bit of a panic about 6 weeks ago. Got flashed by a speed camara van, wasn't sure if I'd strayed a bit over the limit. Was worried if a summons came through the post I wouldnt receive in time and end up in the shit. Heard nothing since so hope I'm in the clear.

Notice has to be with you, not just issued, within 14 days, so onus is on them. I am sure I read somewhere, that proof of receipt after 14 days has been used to have penalty removed (don't know if this is hard fact)

Notice has to be issued to the registered keeper within 14 days. Postal delays are not mitigation, and any further notices issued after the first are not subject to the 14 day rule.

Make sure you update your details with the DVLA when you move...

I received a notice that was torn in aplastic bag from Royal Mail about 4 weeks late. I contacted the issuing authority and everything was fine. The notice was later rescinded when it was discovered that there has been problems with the accuracy of average speed camaras.
