New - The things that really annoy you

Kids these days don’t know about kegels I guess. Cultureless I tells ya

First bad experience with Air BnB.

Booked a place for the end of May ages ago for our trip to see the F1 in Montreal. Decent location and price.

The fuckers have obviously only just realised the weekend of the race has changed for 2026. So they have cancelled the booking, I can rebook for 6x more than I had paid though.

I had the same earlier this year in Miami when the World Cup draw was made and the quarters could be Brazil v England. I have another, but if they were to cancel a few days beforehand if the match up is confirmed then I'd be screwed.

Not great is it!

Hotel will be booked now but going to have be outside of the City as the prices are obscene. Will have a car, as driving to Toronto after the race weekend but dont really want to drive into the City each day so hoping the public transport is top notch now

Got the cyber version of a shrugged shoulder so far.
Bigger battle to tell them to return my money as I dont want booking credit.

That’s completely put me off Airbnb tbh

I hear Montréal is absolutely stellar. Enjoy it, bud. 🍻

Realising the next 4 weeks at work will be shit so logging back in here to pass the time...
Final day of this slog.

4 weeks of little work to do and a couple of days of fuck all to do and its back to work tomorrow. Lets see if I prefer actual work* v arsing around on here

*once I get the induction bollocks out of the way

Hope it goes well for ya. I'm incredibly jealous of people who have a working life they actually enjoy. My working life consisted mainly of a combination of being able to cope with my working day or hating every minute.
Looking back now I realise it was a terrible way to live your life.

I did enjoy my previous role but changes at the very top early last year led to direction change of the company and what was feeding down wasn't great. The plans for my role were scrapped and it felt like I was going backwards. Also wasn't a fan of how they treated a colleague who had come to work for me. They applied for an internal promotion, failed and on the same day they were told they hadn't been successful, they were also removed from the role they were in and sent back to their original job, essentially a demotion!!

Last 6 months or so I didn't enjoy it and had that horrible Sunday evening dread feeling.

New employer should be less corporate as a well established family run business. Same industry but the company is smaller but settled in its position in the market. Role seems well defined and what is expected of me and where I can take it. So it is nice to have some excitement back. Just got to get through those initial early days of signing this, reading that, do this training activity and then get to work properly.

it's amazing the difference in culture even one single person can make. When i started with my current employer, for the first couple of years it was amongst the best experiences of my working life. absolutely loved things.
then there was a rrestructure, with a toxic bullying manager who is/was vile. that toxicity spread, and everyone in the dept was looking at exits.
they have thankfully been encouraged out of the dept. a new positive manager in place the past 2 years. The difference is phenomenal.
