New - The things that really annoy you

Received a rather interesting email at work from the HR assistant...goes something like this...
Merry Christmas, appreciation...
We all know the HR manager works tirelessly organizing the Christmas party, in recognition of her hard work, please consider making a donation $5 and upwards, so we can surprise her at the event
Am I wrong in thinking this is wrong?
I know there is work to do organizing such an event for 200+ ppl, however it's a booking a local room, organizing some food and all the presents that are handed out are freebies from suppliers such as tv's, gift cards etc
All the donkey work such as putting up and dismantling tables, decorations and serving food is done by the salary staff. All the rubbish is handled by the salary staff too

Thing that boils my piss is I've not had a pay increase or bonus in the 3 years I been here and probably work as hard (or more) than the manager

I’d be telling em to do one, and asking why should I a low paid bottom of the pile minion be giving my money to a well paid manager for something that takes an hour tops for her assistant to sort out?
Which is why I’m still a low paid bottom of the pile minion, probably.

That assistant is an arse kissing little cunt. Fuck that

Well we certainly couldn’t have the employer recognize their hard work. 🙄

Shit is infuriating. They probably do work hard, but it’s the employer who should have the responsibility to remunerate that, not the wallets of coworkers.

Why not surprise her at the event, by nobody bothering to turn up?

I am certain the company can dip into it's pockets and surprise her with a gift of appreciation?

It's a mandatory event, all employees must show up
After talking to a few other salaried employees in the office I'm not the only 1 who took this the wrong way
As for the event, I'll try and plan a visit to one of my suppliers instead!!

Plot twist..
Received an updated email asking if people want to donate by venmo, cash app or paypal that is fine as the organizer understands most people don't carry cash nowadays!

They have a card reader knocking around in our office now for whenever there's a collection.

90% of the time it's something charitable though rather than just fluffing someone's ego.

"Merry Footballdartmess"

Fuck off Sky. That's enough to have me ending my near 20 year subscription with you.
The Ally Pally is a total mess. As much as I love darts I don’t think I could be bothered with the “you can’t afford a table shite”

The Snooker Shootout is getting almost as bad too.

It's what happens when you give free reign to drunken idiots to shout what they want unfortunately.

They market the Shootout that way tbh and always have done.

I can't watch it, it's awful. Certainly shouldn't be a ranking event.

It used to be good fun when it started, but now you get idiots shouting the same thing after every shot, and trying to needle the players.

Apparently there were quite a few people asked to leave this year. And it's only going to get worse IMO.

I stopped watching PGA Tour events in golf because some wanker would always bawl "mashed potato" for no reason every time someone drove off. Just tiresome.

A follow up on the property sale to a ‘charity’ saga…. sale off.

Very, very annoying but have seen this before, although normally with investment companies and individual landlords building portfolios but never with a charity.

Tempt the vendor into accepting a low offer on the basis you’re a secure cash buyer (no risky buyer struggling to raise the funds etc), string things out with everyone excited about moving and getting their ducks in a row, then roll the hand grenade into the room on the day of exchange! Threaten to pull out unless new derisory offer of X is accepted, thus collapsing any chain.

The worst one I ever saw was with a large chain and a massive reduction ultimatum from a portfolio builder, whereby eventually the others in the chain agreed to all take a hit in order to continue and exchange and complete as per their schedules. Completely outrageous and tantamount to stealing money but all perfectly legal.

At least no chain this time and no pressure to sell so the lovely ‘charity’ will move on with their dirty tricks to try their luck elsewhere and so a complete waste of 4 months and back to the drawing board.

With so few owner-occupier purchasers around and cash investors mopping up in a depressed market, this sort of crap is really on the up so seller beware - all that glitters is not gold.

Oh well, longest day soon, Happy Christmas.

more confused by a greggs down the road from me that was closed unexpectedly for about a week. apparently a cockroach infestation. queues out the door when it reopened unnannounced.
